It is your parent's house and they make the rules. Unfortunately you may have to wait until you are on your own. But, if you can get your parents to change their minds. I would investigate the dogs available for adpotion at your local humane society, do some research on different small breeds that would get along well with the cats.... You can also show your parents you are willing to take full responsiblity for the dog, by taking on additional chores around the house (volunteering to do extra work), taking on the care of the cats (keeping them fed, watered, brushed, litter box clean... then maybe your folks will think you are ready for a dog

Well, you should try to talk to them and see why they don´t want a dog. Also, dogs aren´t cheap or easy. Keep that in mind. Dogs are expensive. Obviously, you could go to a shelter and adopt one. The advantage is you´ll be giving an abandoned animal a new home and a new chance. And there will probably be an adoption fee, but it´ll still be cheaper than getting a purebred dog. But of course, this is where the easy/hard thing comes in. It is impossible just by looking at a dog to know what its personality will be. This is a big disadvantage when adopting. Also, dogs SHED. Keep that in mind.

A stuffed animal is the only dog who is easy, cheap, non-shedding and small. Dogs are sort of by their natures expensive and a giant responsibility.

If you parents don't want a dog, there's nothing you can do. Some people just aren't dog people, and that's fine. The problem arises when people who aren't dog people get a dog anyway and then ignore, neglect and otherwise abuse it because they never really wanted it in the first place.

You have your whole life ahead of you. Once you move out on your own, then you can get the dog you always wanted.

Ask them to be more specific about why they don't want a dog and then see if you can't address their concerns. If they continue to say that they simply don't want a dog then they're not giving you a real answer. They should at least have the character to give you the real reason instead of avoiding it like they have.

the dogs that don't shed are dogs with wirery coats or curly the poodle is best for that and they are smart dogs ans easy to train they are a small to medium dog and the best thing for price is to get one someone is selling or giving away in your local paper and to call your local human society ask if they have a poodle to adopt. good luck P.S. offer to do all the care for the dog

You'll have to find out why they don't want a dog before you will be able to persuade them to let you have one.
Get one from the dog pound or a rescue group. Tell them you'll be saving an innocent dog's life. Cry a lot.

Well if they don't want one, that's just the way it is. But FYI, my mom has a chihuahua and 2 cats and they all get along great. The chi is pretty low-maintenance.
