Get either a flea and tick collar and have your yard treated by an exterminator or get some "seven dust" from Home Depot or Lowes to spread on the yard and around the perimeter of your house.
The only thing that I would think about is having the yard and house treated as well. If you have them in the yard and on the dog, and the dog comes inside or you go outside, then most likely, you have fleas in the house.

Buy some frontline plus and put it on your dog every month, also consider having your yard treated by a professional if it is a major infestation. Ticks and fleas can carry a large array of diseases on top of being a major source of discomfort for you dog... bites are painful and itchy and can cause a number of skin problems...
Frontline is one of the best flea and tick treatments out there. It isn't cheap compared to some things you can find at wal mart, but it is well worth the price. It is also waterproof and you can bathe your dog without removing it's effectiveness. You may also want to flea dip him to speed up the process and/or carry him over until you can get some frontline for him. Removing the flea dirt will help him feel better too.

Go to your local hardware or garden center...and Buy...Sevin Dust......sprinkle it all over the yard and dog......it wont hurt it...it tells you on the back of the bag how to do it. This is the best stuff I have ever found to get rid of fleas. You can use in inside or out......its also good for a number of other bugs and garden pests. Make sure its not gonna rain the first night you do this...so it doesnt get washed away before it starts working...good Luck

Frontline your dog and go to the hardware store and buy fertilizer with insect control. Ask the hardware store exactly how to use it. If the dog goes indoors, you'll need to wash everything that is infested and use carpet flea killer that you vacuum up no the carpets. There are all types of products on the market. Just becareful b/c they're all harmful to humans and pets too.

I find that Revolution is the best treatment for my dogs. It kills not only ticks and fleas, but flea eggs and larvae. It also controls earmites, heartworm and many other parasites. Within 24hrs of application all fleas have been exterminated. Awesome stuff.

I was told you should put lime on the grass and it will kill the fleas in it. As for the dogs - flea bath and flea and tick collars.
