When my great-grandfather's labor was sought by american coal companies, they went to europe and paid his (and countless other young men's) way over here. The government, anxious to provide this labor made it very easy to immigrate. There were no unions, so a flood of legals was fine. But, my great-grandfather was among the pople who brought those radical notions that a man was a man and should be paid a decent wage for his labor, one of those who brought the unions here and raised everyone's standard of living and lowered everyone's work week.
Now, of course, the right wing has destroyed the unions and wages have plummeted. Now, we don't need any more legal folks. How to drive wages further down? The immigrants have to be illegal and living in fear of asserting their human rights. So, the govt again makes sure there is a huge supply of cheap labor - this time by insuring that their actions, the same as my great-grandfathers - seeking to participate in the american dream - are illegal instead of legal. It's bullsh***.

Do you mean an argument in favor of illegal immigration?
The best one I can think of is that all these workers are paying into the Social Security system so that there will be sufficient funding for when I retire. If we relied only on the citizens of the US who are already here, the system would run out of money far sooner. I want to be able to retire and get what's coming to me in the Social Security system and for years it looked like this was not going to happen. With this huge surge of illegal immigration, it looks like getting my full Social Security benefit won't be a problem.
Very selfish I know, but you asked for a strong pro-illegal argument.

I'm not really pro illegal but...
There's no question that the wages that some of these folks work for keep the costs of goods and services down. There's some obvious ones... gardening and housekeeping come to mind... but also the price of produce and chicken at the store, etc. The low cost labor enables more people to afford these things than otherwise could have.

I'm really trying to think of something.......sorry, I can't think of anything. There are no valid reasons to not enforce our immigration laws. But maybe when we get this situation under control we can relax the laws a bit for those trying to enter legally.

It would cost each American taxpayer more to "get rid of all the illegals" than to somehow accommodate them. About twice as much, as I understand it.
