OK, the ONLY reason illegals are being HIRED, is because they work cheaper,and usually without benefits!!!!
IF they were legalized, they would start DEMANDING the SAME wages and benefits of the American workers, whose jobs they have taken!!
So, my QUESTION is, exactly what are THEY going to do when the Guatamalans,etc, come take these jobs from THEM?????
ALSO, to those that hire illegals, WHAT are YOU going to do,when these illegals start demanding higher wages??? Are you going to REPLACE them with those who will work cheaper?? Evidently you show NO loyalty for any of the workers!!! So, the whole thing will start over AGAIN!!!

'andrewc" You are WRONG about that!!!! The ILLEGALS are ALREADY wanting more money!!!! There was a news article about the ILLEGAL mexicans leaving the jobs in construction,because they were ONLY makeing $10-$14 an hour, and they wanted MORE!!!!! So, the Guatamalans are filling these jobs now!!!

Just as the 1986 amnesty promised secure borders, penalizing employers and not allowing illegals hospital and other benefits ... well we know what happened to that one ... :( You are exactly right, business wants ILLEGALS, not legal workers or citizens ... if and when amnesty is given to the bunch who are here now, more illegals will come and take their place ... nothing happened about border control etc., in 1986, that was so much lip service to get their nefarious amnesty bill through .... and nothing will happen now either to border control etc. if we don't keep an eagle eye on them this time .... they got away with their lies and false promises once, or twice, or three times .... we won't let them get away with it again!!!!!!!!

If illegal immigrants are legalized and begin asking minimum wage. Dont you think employers will have no option and give minimum wage to everybody..
Aren't they doing it today because there are some illegals that need money of any sort?
The cure for your country is legalizing then everything you complain about will be fixed.
1. criminals will be easily tracked and prosecuted.
2. Tax will begin going to the gov. and not only grocery stores.
3. Employers will find they have nobody left to pay undertable salaries and therefore wages will rise equitably for everybody.
4. Unknown billions of taxpayer's dollars will be saved that could have been used in deportations.

I think the idea is that if they are legalized then there will be a huge workforce available to choose from and thus sheer numbers will keep the wages down (if one won't do it for peanuts they'll just find another who will).
But you're right, this doesn't really make sense since the NEXT wave of illegals will just pick up right where we are now.

Be careful what you wish for. There is a reason Walmart can offer you products that are so affordable. I recall a documentary about a woman who sewed logos on sweatpants in Malasia and she got like $5 a month. She was shocked to learn that the pants sold for $30 a pair (seven months salary for her) and she wondered why she was only makin $5 a month. Well, do you go out and look for the best bargains when you shop or do you avoid Walmart and all stores that purchase from those who employ illegial aliens?
If you do not avoid such things then you are the very reason that people continue to hire illegial alliens. Because the market requires it.

What would happen if tomorrow all the people who are here illegally were suddenly gone? Would you say that wages would go up?
What would happen if suddenly business's started closing down to take advantage of cheaper labor, centrally close, just south of the border?

No, that is certainly not the case. The immigrants will not be "demanding" higher wages because they have no use for a higher wage. If they have been living like the way the were for so many years, why would they want to change it all. They just want to make a living making any amount of money they could. They are not going to start being like some other Americans who are like "If you dont give me a raise, i am out of here!" because the Immigrants don't think that way. they are not self-centered and they don't care about the amount of money, just that they get it.

They don't get hired because of cheaper wages,
they tend to work harder and faster because they're in more desperate need..
the only cheaper wages are from fields and sweat shops... Some illegals working in restaurants get up to 10 bucks per hour that I know of..
