Our thoughts are to have a 50's theme.. e.g. music from the 50's and set pictures to this music... but I'm really struggling with the program itself. I need video shots from old movies that I could use in the program or ideas for the top ten secrets to being married 50 years.. or something that will not bore our audience to tears. If you've been to such an anniversary, or have ideas, pls let me know!

thanks! Rane

I went to an 80th birthday party where the family did this... it was a hoot!

With the invitations, include a little notecard that they can drop in a collection box when they get to the party. Ask them to write funny or romantic memories about the couple and then draw them randomly and read them out loud at the party. After the party ends you can compile them into a little scrapbook for your parents to keep. You could even give out little theme-friendly gifts to the people whose cards are read during the event.

Alternately, if you have time you could ask the guests to mail or e-mail these in AHEAD of time so you can include them in a video montage to play at the party or (like our friends did) print the best ones in a little pamphlet that everyone can take home.

That would eat up a little time during the party AND focus the attention on the couple of honor.

One nice thing done for my inlaws - send out form letter to family and friends asking for congratulatory letter, with rememberances of days gone by, include your email for responses who would rather email (but print those on cool different paper).
Assemble these in nice album, include photos, invitiation to event, etc. Ask each child and grandchild to write a one-page memoir of their most special memories of the couple
My inlaws loved this. Included were neighbors from where they lived 20 years ago.
-For making a movie, I would get clips of friends and family commenting onwhat they see/think of couple, or stories about couple. People love seeing themselves and would be attentive during movie!
-Get current day pictures of where they were married/honeymooned/lived.

Can you put a collection of pictures into video? Photo Explosion is a great computer program to do this. You can add graphics, music, etc. My mom did this for our family...it was awesome!

the 50's theme is good, maybe include a mock wedding where the people who stood up for them change rolls-girls/guys and guys/girls. We did it for my parents 25th it was hillarious.
