I have a white kitchen. I watch alot of decorating tv shows and I find that updating the appliances really helps with the re sell value of your home. So I updated ALL of my kitchen appliances to stainless steel. I like the look of white appliances as well. I guess it depends on your personal preference, but I do believe that stainless appliances helps with the re sell value. Ever since I've updated the appliances, i've been contemplating changing the countertops and backsplash but it appears to be too expensive. Anyway, my kitchen looks alot better with the stainless steel appliances. These days, it appears stainless steel seems to be the way to go! I love the look of my kitchen now.

Black or wood might also look nice. I'd avoid white if the rest of the kitchen is white. If you're asking if you should buy all new appliances so that they'll be stainless instead of your current white appliances, then I think you need to look at the age and condition of your current appliances. If you need new appliances, then the stainless may be the way to go. It all depends on what goes best with the rest of your kitchen.

I wouldn't update just to sell the house. You never know what a person may like or dislike, so don't change that. Plus appliances are easily changed. What i would do is de-clutter every room. Paint most walls neutral and bake a pan of brownies before someone comes to see your house (or light a candle). Smell is important, but clutter is the worst turn off. You may even want to store some furniture away while showing. Keep it simple.

Stay white don't put the money into stainless. Some people could be turned off by stainless, while white is classic.

Are the appliances old and outdated and worn? If so I might do it, otherwise, I'd leave them and see how you do. We are considering buying a house with white cabinetry and appliances and will probably just replace the appliances as we need to, except for the built-in micro which is horrible. It's not stopping us from buying, I'd save your money if you can.

I don't think stainless and white go together. It looks too cold and sterile.
