I do not wear black--wear something conservative and not in a bright color---don't wear shorts or jeans---for a woman, I would wear a nice shirt and pants or skirt is good too.
The people who are mourning will only remember that you cared--they will not be interested or care what you have on.

Most people still wear black, but the most important thing is to not show too much leg or cleavage. I went to a funeral this week where some of the women looked like they would at a dark strip club. Anything dark and subdued is fine, provided it covers what clothes should.

Well, these days things seem more lenient than ever, however it is still considered respectful to wear dressy clothing that is dark in color. Black, Dark Gray, Dark Blue are all best. I just went to a funeral visitation yesterday and wore black. Women should just wear something dressy, slacks are fine or dresses.

It is traditional to wear black to a funeral. However, as long as one is tastefully dressed, it probably doesn't matter.
To tell you truthfully, I remember most of the people who came to my mother's funeral (calling hours and the funeral Mass), but I couldn't tell you what they were wearing. It was important to me that they came.
BTW- There is a letter to Dear Abby about this in the paper today
(at least I think it was today)

It doesn't have to be black or blue. Just wear a nice pair of slacks or a skirt. Any color is fine as long as it is not something loud. Do not wear a mini skirt. Do not wear sneakers. A nice pair of shoes will be fine. My condolences to the people who lost their loved one.

Most people wear black, but as long as it isn't flashy and attention getting, it's fine. Dark blue would be fine.

It's like the good book says come as you are. I think that as long as you are clean and tidy be comfortable. just dont wear the hootice outfit or the Game wear. But that is also debaateable if the team is showing respect for that team member.

Out of respect, I still wear dark colors....usually something black and tasteful. It is the one event you shouldn't dress to make yourself happy, you are there to show respect and support.
