Check with your local recreation department (just about every city and town has one!) and ask about what sort of adult sports leagues they have. Most towns will at least have softball, basketball, and soccer.

Look in your newspaper in the lifestyle or activities section. A lot of times you can find some activities in there like belly dance or yoga classes. These are usually free or have a minimal charge (again, a lot of rec. depts will offer these things too).

Contact a local school for information about coaching a kids team. I'll be the cross country or track coaches would like to have a volunteer assistant!

Some gyms will offer basketball or floor hockey leagues. Call around and find out... they may be able to help point you in other directions to find what you're looking for.

Try www.exercisefriends.com or www.buddyslim.com and see if you can find a partner to go running with. Sometimes most of us just need that kick in the pants to get moving!

I also HIGHLY recommend weight watchers. You can do it all online and keep track of points and everything. It is very easy, understandable, and actually works.

Good luck.

50 lbs is a lot so don't jump right into an exercise program. Everyone will tell you that you should consult a doctor before engaging in any exercise program, but I've been an athlete all my life and no one is better at gauging one's sense of health than that person. So take it slow, building as you strengthen.

Try this... join a gym, or YMCA, but don't go full tilt. Hop on the treadmill and adjust it to a steep incline and a pace that's comfortable to you, and simply walk. Do this twice a week for 30 minutes while you watch TV and you'll see a difference very soon. Work your way up to 3X a week and 40 minutes, and let me tell you, the pounds will fly off.

If you are bent on sports, try a low intensity sport that's fun. Join an Adult Kickball league. Most people don't take it too seriously (it's kickball, after all) and just have fun with it. but you help yourself by simply getting up and moving.

Hope this helps.

You're fine. Don't worry about your weight, you look great the way you do. Just do what you like doing in life, don't worry about how you look, because there is always going to be someone in the world who thinks you looks great. There is no reason to be depressed.

Smile at life and it's problems. Don't stress over them.
