My pediatrician suggested 8 oz. per age, maxing out at 24 oz.
So for a 1 year old - 8 oz.
a 2 year old - 16 oz.
a 3 year old and up - 24 oz.

But I would rather my son have as much milk as he wants than juice.

Whole milk? A few small cups. I can't give you an exact number, because every child is different. In pre-schools that follow nutrition guidelines, the children are provided milk 2 times. So, if they drink those two, then another 2 at home should be sufficient.

a cup or 2. Milk is not essential, and should not be, for a 2 year old anymore. One day my son told me he is too old for milk, and refused it since.

No more than 3 even cups a day. Equivalents to about 24 oz.

Not more than 24 ounces of cows' milk. Any more than that can cause an iron deficiency in her.

About 4-5 8oz glasses.. she doesn't need that much milk.. and any other liquids that she needs if she's thirsty should be water or juice.
