A shower gift is completely separate from the wedding gift. I saw an etiquette article once that said the gifts should increase in price/value as you get closer to the wedding. *rolling eyes* I say they are GIFTS and you should give what you want and what you can afford.
I have a fairly limitted income, (and my friends know it), so I tend to spend more like $35 on a shower gift and $50 or so on a wedding gift.

Buy a $20-$25 for the shower and a $50-$100 for the wedding.
Remember the wedding gift is for the couple, not just the bride.

Yes, you should take a gift to the shower AND the wedding. If you can't do both, forgo the shower and just give a gift at the wedding.
The values don't have to be the same. There's no special amount you have to spend. If you have $20 to spend, then spend $20. Don't feel guilted into paying more than you can afford.

Yes, but you don't have to spend that much money at the shower. You should spend that amount at the wedding though. Weddings are expensive to go to but nine times out of ten, the couple is going to barely break even with the amount they spend. So its expensive to have a wedding!

Yes, they each require a gift. Usually if you go to the shower and bring a gift, you'd give a check at the wedding. The value should be enough to cover the cost of yours and your date's meal.

Yes, you are supposed to bring one to the wedding too. You should spend between 50-100 per person (you and your date 100-200). It is insanely expensive to go to weddings!
