You can install Boot Camp and run Windows by itself, or you can use Parallels (http://www.parallels.com/) to run Windows within Mac OS X.
To the above poster, the OP is waiting for Intel's new Merom (Core 2 Duo) processor to show up in the iMac, not the older Yonah (Core Duo).

You can not run Windows software on a MAC. You would have to load bootcamp then install Windows and use it to run Windows apps. Also, iMAC duo core has been out for awhile now.

"Boot Camp" and run Windows platform on iMac, there is no such PC-layer on a Mac now to put Windows program side-by-side Mac program.
Something going that direction similar to VMware is on the works but not ready to roll out yet, probably months away.

Sorry you have to install "Boot Camp" and Windows XP, unless your PC software will run in Linux. Then you can run it under OSX.
