Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

The first and only snare is ego. Everything that is from the flesh is rooted in ego. Essentially, everything we do that violates the will of God is based somehow on the fact that we have chosen to elevate ourselves to a higher priority in our lives than God. This even includes times when we choose to be disobedient to God for the sake of someone else, because we are acting in a manner that shows we think OUR knowledge and wisdom is greater than that of our Creator.
Therefore, anything that leads us away from giving glory to God will lead us to misery. This can be in any area, although few things in this world are inherently wrong. Where some churches have it wrong about drinking, there's nothing wrong with a good drink, if you don't place it in a priority above God. TO drink to excess is to act in a manner that shows you think your opinion is more important than God's, therefore an overactive ego. To enjoy a good drink or two because God made good drink is fine and dandy. The same goes for anythign that you put above God, because to do that is to state that your desire is more important than God.
