Such a tired question.... do you believe in evolution or creation?
If you believe in creation, then God created the first chicken and it went on to lay eggs.
If you believe in evolution, then some other creature, not quite a chicken, laid an egg and the mutant result was just enough different from the original creature to be our first chicken. The chicken came from that egg, which came from something non-chicken. Hence, egg came first.
I prefer the evolution theory - it just makes sense. I believe that the egg came first. I don't disbelieve in God - I just think he created that first spark of life and gave it the ability to develop and evolve.
