I was in the Army for 11 years and it was great. As far as your physical ability they'll take care of that while you're in basic training. As long as you follow rules and can listen to orders you'll do fine. Let me tell you though, if you want to make it a career I would join the Air Force they are a lot better on their enlisted people than any other branch, and when I was stationed with some in England, they got extra money because the barracks we lived in weren't up to the Air Force's high standards. As far as we were concerned, Army, they were great because everyone had their own bathrooms in their rooms - some even had bathtubs, and all the rooms were carpeted another plus I had never seen at any other locations, so go for it. And make sure you ask lots of questions, like if you've already been taking college and have any student loan debt get them to pay it off for you, and see if their are any good incentives like a signing bonus. Good Luck.

Don't listen to what some people say. If they hate it, that doesn't mean you are gonna hate it. They are just a bunch of wussies. Military is not for everyone. As you can see from what some people are saying here. I have a friend, she's a female and she loves the Army. If she can do it, any girl can do it. Once you are in training, u will do good.
Air Force does treat people better and they do have better housing facilities(Bases). But they don't gurantee jobs and they are getting rid of people.

I don't think they can afford to have standards at the moment, they're offering huge signing bonuses in fact for people who join. I would find a place where recruiters are standing outside of a mall or university campus and kind of walk up like you're not really interested but just listening to be polite. Let them do their shpeal and don't act at all interested, believe me they'll talk your ear off, then let them get your contact information and leave. When they call you, and they will, let them do their shpeal again but don't sign up for anything just let them talk and in the end tell them you'll think it over for a few days. They'll keep offering you more and more, the third time go as far as coming in to their office if you're still interested. You should get a pretty sweet deal that way.
Now, on the othe hand, you may want to consider what you'll be doing for them.

There is a woman in my husbands plt. that is 4'9" and many of the recruiters will help you I mean you might be in better shape then you think you are and if you aren't then you have something that motivate you... I don't think that it's harder for women to join... like I said just work with the recruiter
Good Luck and I hope you get in!

Not the army! Join the airforce, much better conditrions. Regardless of which you join, though-wait till AFTER the war.
Army boot camp is tougher that air force boot camp, and if you are not in shape now, you will be after army boot camp.

I was in the Navy and i loved it up until the time I got married and started a family. It just seemed to be too much all at once. I would visit each branches recruiting offices and talk to the recruiters and decide what branch of service would suit you best.

oh no! join the military! they need more of us in the army! i dont think it matters if your short, but you do have to pass the standards on weight. I dont think its harder for women to join. Its not bad, you get free healthcare, and dentalcare, and if your young you might even get a scholorship! its great, and as you progress and get promoted, the pay gets higher and higher, my dad is a CW5, and boy does he have it made! you should really join the army,
If you join YOU ROCK!
