Only if you are lifting ridiculous weights like cars does it affect your height, but not your growth. The most you can shrink as around 2 inches.

You should do what these guys tell you, but more than anything, do not try this at home without anyone around. If you needed someone to help you, then you would not have anyone. Check it out with your gym teacher or someone professional to tell you how to begin this type of training. It should not affect your growth, maybe even encourage your growth more than anything. Just watch the bones. .

Lifting weight builds up bones. But talk to a professional before you tackle anything. Don't try to prove how much you can lift. Dropping a barbell - that's too heavy- across your throat is not the best way to start building up your body.

As long as you protect your joints by warming up and lifting properly you will be OK. Children under 14 still have soft joints and repitively lifting heavy weights can damage them. At 16 you should be OK as long as you dont go to the extreme.

You have to do some serious lifting for it to stunt your growth. You would have to be going for that gross, veiny muscle look, and going for it quickly. Normal lifting can help the strength of your bones and has other benefits as well. As long as you do it properly, you shouldn't have any problems.
