kids that young don't understand spanking yet. he doesn't know he's hurting people. the way children explore their world is by touching and putting everything in their mouths.
what you do is tell the child very firmly- NO! NO BITING, (insert name here)! NO! Make sure that he sees the big frown on your face. Kids that young know what a frown means. It may take some time, so be patient. Tell other family members to do as you do, so that the punishment is consistant (therefore effective).
Spanking is for kids from age 3 to about 7. When they're older than that, switch to making them clean the yard and such.

I know this might sound awful, but I used to get my pointer and middle fingers and pop her in the mouth when she tried to bite anyone. If that didn't work, I'd just bite her back. I didn't smack her hard, but firmly so she knew she was doing something wrong with her mouth, and it scared her more than anything. When I'd bite her back, it too hurt her feelings and she didn't do it ever again. (She only did it maybe 3 or 4 times, so I think what I did worked pretty good)

Well I once read in a parenting magazine that biting a child back is the wrong thing to do. I think that when your child bites, just say NO and give them a little spank on the hand and even if he doesnt understand then explain anyways, that its wrong and why its wrong. After talking with my son I ask him for kiss and a hug, to let him know that I am not angry with him. Always seems to work for me...I hope it helps!! GOOD LUCK!!

Give your 1 year old an open-handed back slap in the mouth! Then it will learn not to bite anybody!

Seriously, bite him back.
I had that problem with a woman who's son bit me. After the second time, I told her that if he bit me again, I would bite him back and hard, showing her my teeth.
She laughed it off, the kid bit me and I chomped on him.
At least the kid never bit me again.

when he get;s bit back he'll stop. that happened to my daughter. they don't realize how much it hurts until they feel it.
just keep telling him that it hurts. you can't really punish a 1 year old. you can try setting him down on the floor and saying "NO, that hurts" and walk away. by walking away he may "get" that it's a bad thing.
this is normal..good luck :-)

A drop of Tabasco will make em think twice about biting...they might make the mistake one more time but that's about it...what ever the consequences its got to be something they don't want to repeat.

Make sure they know they are hurting their "friends" this is what I say.....and try to tell them no everytime, don't ever let them get by with it even if another kid did it to them first.. it may take some time, but they will get over it! good luck!
