Steak salad is one of my favorite things to make with leftover steak. At a minimum it is simply slices of steak over salad greens with your preferred salad dressing. I tend to spiff mine up a bit with whatever we might have on hand - walnuts, goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, kumquats, etc. Arugula is a particularly good complement to steak, though the pepperiness of the arugula can at times be a little too much if not mixed in with some other salad greens.
Steak Salad Recipe
1/4 head lettuce greens
1 handful of arugula, young leaves, tough stems removed
1/4 of one red bell pepper, thinly sliced and chopped
2 scallions, thinly sliced
A few toasted walnuts, chopped
1/4 to 1/2 lb of steak, pan-fried or grilled, chilled, and thinly sliced
2 oz goat cheese, crumbled
2 kumquats, thinly sliced
1 teas lemon juice
1 Tbsp olive oil
Salt and Pepper
1 Toss together the lettuce greens, arugula, bell pepper, and scallions. Arrange on individual plates. Sprinkle on chopped walnuts. Lay on top several slices of chilled sliced steak. Sprinkle on goat cheese and kumquats.
2 Mix together the lemon juice, olive oil, and a dash of salt and pepper. Drizzle on salad.
Serves 2-3.

Sliced Steak Salad
The Chef
MARK STRAUSMAN of Fred's at Barneys
Servings
Serves 6.
Ingredients
Vinaigrette:
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 lemon, juiced
9 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Salad: 3 large bunches arugula
3 large vine-ripened beefsteak tomatoes
1 small red onion, halved and sliced thin
6 10-ounce certified Angus shell steaks
12 teaspoons kosher salt
12 teaspoons cracked black pepper
24 slices of shaved Parmesan cheese (start with an 8-ounce block)
Cooking Instructions
Vinaigrette: Whisk together the mustard, vinegar, and lemon juice in a bowl, then slowly whisk in the olive oil until emulsified. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Salad: Wash the arugula in several changes of water to ensure all the grit has been removed, trim the stalks, and place the leaves in a large bowl. Cut the tomatoes into 1/2 inch cubes and add to the arugula along with the onion.
Steaks: Season each side of the meat with salt and pepper. Place the steaks on a hot barbecue grill, and cook to desired doneness. Remove from the grill, and allow the meat to rest for several minutes before slicing.
Assembly: Just before serving, gradually add the vinaigrette to the salad, and toss together until the salad is lightly coated. Arrange the salad in the center of a large platter, family-style, or on individual plates. Slice each steak into 6 or 7 pieces and fan them out around the salad. Scatter the shaved Parmesan cheese over the beef, and serve.

If you mean like a cheese steak salad...yes. You just fry up your steak-um or whatever brand you like...add cheese and melt. I usually skip the suace here. I make a tossed salad with an array of veggies and top with the steak mixture. I find that french dressing works particularly well here.

wash steaks. Season with salt and pepper or alternatively if you barbecue then paint both sides of steak with barbecue sauce as its cooking. Same for grill. grill barbecue or fry steak. Make salad of your choice. You can use french dressing (brought over teh counter)over salad. Salad can be helpings of potato salad, coleslaw and lettuce tomatoes, bell peppers, sweetcorn, seler(if you like it) and Bobs your uncle.
