They are very expensive and very reliable. They are very heavy; I wouldn't want to vaccum up and down stairs with one. You cannot buy this kind of quality at Wal-Mart. If your hair gets wrapped around a Kirby beater bar (little spinny thing) it will get wrapped around a Wal-Mart sweeper too...

Well, let's see. My Kirby worked great for a while then it started giving me problems. I have really long hair and so when I vacuum I always pick up hair, well the hair gets wrapped around the brush (the spinny thing that picks everything up) and I end up having to take apart the whole damn thing and cut all the crap off from around the brush. I got so sick of doing this that one day I got good and pissed off and threw the thing out the front door, onto the lawn never to be used again. The End

Owned a Kirby for twenty years and sold the motor part back to the company for $100.00. It is one of the higher priced vacuums on the market,but worth every penny.

kirby's been around forever and though they are expensive, are quite reliable. they used to only be sold by door-to-door salesmen. tough to beat!
