This sounds about right. My son is two and he sleeps from 8pm to 7:30 am, then has a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. If you don't want your son sleeping well into the day, try putting him to bed earlier.

Does he take naps during the day as well? If he's getting 15+ hours of sleep, that's excessive and should be talked about with his pediatrician. My youngest is a 12 hour a day sleeper and he's 8. Kids sleep as long as they need to. Just for my sake and peace of mind I probably wouldn't let him sleep much past 12 hours a day though. But that's just me. If his pediatrician isn't worried, then you shouldn't be either.

Seeing as how he is only 2, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
You say he is very hyper when he is awake.
His sleeping is due to the fact that he needs to recharge his batteries.
The more active and the more hyper a child is, the more they tend to sleep to recoup the energy.
it really is not a big worry, so long as he gets his 9 to 10 hours a night, he will be fine.

i'm wondering if he might not benefit from a sleep routine.
i used to sleep odd times when i was a kid and then, when i got older i realized how great a sleep schedule is!!
so, i would start putting him to be earlier and earlier until he is in bed by 8 or 9 pm. then, wake him around 8 or 9am, unless he wakes up earlier.
i have a feeling that if he starts sleeping "normal" night time hours he may get some better sleep and sleep more "normal" time periods.
if you allow yourself to get too much sleep, then your body will stay in sleep mode and not want to get up. however, if you get just the right balance...well, that is the good part.
take care!

possibly even as she grew to grow to be a million, she did not nap because she grow to be being rebellious. the more youthful you're the more effective sleep you desire, because you body is popping out to be truly quick. This boom actually will exhaust the newborn. It doesn't sound like she is dozing too a lot. merely save watch and make constructive she remains alert even as she is wakeful. If she looks dazed even as she's wakeful, then you definately have a difficulty.

Enjoy the naptime! I know a little girl (not mine, unfortunately) who loved her naps, and would easily kip for a good couple of hours in the afternoon. She eventually gave up her marathon naps at the age of 4. It's nothing to worry about, let the boy snooze!

he needs to sleep earlier. 11:30pm is too late. It's common for 2 yr olds to sleep about 12 hours. I don't see a problem.

I believe children at that age need 12 hours of sleep. I would just check with his doctor to make sure. He probably just wears himself out.

No need to worry.... sleeping long is most often a syptom of a growth spurt. My son slept like that too.
