Does arguing the origins of our species bring you closer to Jesus?
Just wondering.

My favorite subject; In the book of Genesis it says that God created the heavens and the earth and the evening and the morning were the first day. There are seven of these dual-phase periods. The Hubble telescope has been able to peer backwards in time using doppler-shift spectrum analysis. Scientists say that based on that the universe is 13.835 billions years old. Thats pretty close to 14. 2 x 7 = 14. The Bible is not a science book but the fact that there are seven periods of 2 phases each (2 x 7) and scientists say that the universe has been around for 14 billion years. . . see where i am going with this? Evolution did happen. If you read the end of Genesis 1, creation was finished, THEN God made man in His image. The first creation was around for several of these dual-phase periods before man was given "the breath of life" which is not breathing. No that means something entirely different but man did evolve we have the bones to prove that early man was here. The problem is the creationists dont understand what God is saying to them because they are busy arguing against the evolutionists. Both are right - right up to the point where they say that modern man is descended from primate. We are of separate flesh and they cant explain that can they? No. There are two hurdles to reach this level of understanding. Years of study and a deflated ego that doesnt prompt one to scream at the other "i am right" "no I AM right" "Evolution! No! Creation!" When A) the Bible is not a science book it was written at an unsophisticated time and B) science can only try to explain or understand what has ALREADY been done. Like the Big Bang, the language is the only barrier that both are right. "And God said 'let there be light and there was light" That would have been one tremendous explosion dontcha think? If the only tool we have in our language box is 'big bang' then accept the fact that this is the best explanation we can come up with for now. 100 years from now man will look back at man of this day and laugh at our use of something so sophomoric as "big bang" or how about other failings of our language like "bad guys" how juvenile! Science supports the existance of God not replaces Him. And the creationists really need to come out of thier religi-osity and grab some science. Angels with wings bah-humbug!!!

first of all, if evolution was true....lets say that we are not created but we are like the evolution process evolutioned....my first question is, does that mean that we don't have nothing else but this life, and if we die, is that all there is of life? my second question is, if I am an evolution creation, than what will happen to me I am going to be transformed into something else, or does evolution stops with me? third question, if we are made thru evolution, will all the monkey that are in the zoo, soon will be evolutionating into humans....?...............lets pause for a moment..
the universe, the human body, the earth, the food we eat, the languages, the babies that are born every day, and the animals, aand all of these are very complex forms of life, do you think that we are from evolution......scientist are amazed with the universe, but they don't want to recognize that there is a God, even though they don't see him.....doctors are amazed of the way the body is formed and fuctioning, but more than that is the brain, the heart, the eyes, the mouth, the lungs, and much much more, that if we get to read about the way the body is created, we will be amazed too....if we belief in the existance of a God, which there is a lot of proof by the creation he has done, there is a hope for even for the dead people that have died,.....we were created with a sense of spirituality, and the need to worship someone, in this case, God....so please, ask Jehovah's Witness for the book of Evolution for you to read, and the book of Revelation for you to read, and be amazed with all the great information you will get from there....write back at mil_millones_vivir@yahoo.com

Interesting question, but since nobody has proved the theory of evolution to the complete satisfaction of scientists, I doubt it can be disproven either. Evolution is a theory. That is a starting point for considering the possible origins of species. Evolution and intellegent design are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Neither viewpoint is a stepping stone to more perfect Christian thought. Keeping an open mind might be.

It doesn't.

Fact: Science is bound by the laws of physical nature. It cannot perceive into the supernatural realm as it does not have the tools to do so, in the same manner that an 'average joe' cannot percieve into atomic realm as he does not have the tools to do so. Yet, he takes the atomic theory on 'faith', as other people have said they have seen it happen, and it has been documented as happening that way... even though he has not. In time, after learning to use the tools, he too can see atoms flying around.

Fact: Faith is bound by the laws of the supernatural realm. It does not perceive into the natural realm, as it is not the tool designed to do so. Just as above, a neophyte Christian does not yet have the 'tools' to perceive God's influence, he takes it on faith, yet knows others have said they've seen it happen, and it has been documented. In time, after learning to use the 'tools', he too can see God's influence in his life, others' lives, and within the world.

They are two seperate schools of experience. One is adamant that all there is in the world is what we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear. The other knows there is stuff that doesn't apply to empirical science, nor can be measured by it.

Quantum science, ironically, falls somewhere inbetween the two...

BTW- science isn't always right. Science first said "there's only 5 planets in our solar system"... then 8... then 9... we might possibly go back to 8, or jump up to 53 (or more!) here soon. Faith isn't always right either, especially when it's backed by science.

It's more to do with their literal interpretation of the bible of some christian faiths.

In order to be a fundamentalist christian, you have to believe the bible is the inspired word of god written by man.

Since the bible states that the world was created in 6 days, evolution could not possibly have happened.

I'm not sure, the Bible doesn't say anything about dinosuars or evolution...but there is proof of both. I'm a die hard Christian and my thoery is that God Himself is like a scientist, He experiment with the dinosuars and didnt like them so he destroyed them. As for evolution, I say that God was experimenting with different speicies and allowed evolution to happen. We as human beings may be evolving now, but I think it is with the help of God.

it doesent, and yo ucant disprove evolution.

theres far too much corroberating evidence within the academies of science to disprove evolution. you would have to go to every type of science and disprove everything.

and i mean EVERYTHING that pertains to evolution. i beleive that also includes continental drift, as it separated the peoples.

This "issue" is only an issue amongst uneducated hillbillies and children. Anyone who bothers to educate themselves, goes to school, and actually study biology knows that there is no such debate. Evolution is real, burying your head in the sand and throwing out idiotic statements to the contrary doesn't do anything for your cause.

I would assume so, since believing in creation (no matter what the evidence) would prove your faith that god is "all powerful" even if logical facts tell differently.

Not really, its just part of our beliefs. IMO science explains creationism since their is NO fossil evidence of evolution, thus that is why it is a THEORY
