One of the respondents to the previous question...said that the website in question didn't intimidate him, but that Christians attacking him "for being gay" did.
As a Christian, I can't deny that the Bible, Old Testament and New, DOES condemn homosexual activity. It also condemns gluttony, gossipping, greediness, spiritual pride, prayerlessness, cowardice, one of which in the list, all Christians must admit they fall into still....I notice a campaign among Christians to "go after" homosexuals. I'll be the first to admit, I "go after" atheists, because they're looking for a fight. Homosexuals, typically, aren't, unless they're doing it under the guise of defending atheism.
Homosexuals have internal guilt APLENTY without any outside pounding. What would it be like to watch friend after friend succumb to AIDS, while you yourself were still standing? Even if you weren't directly responsible for seducing a youngster, imagine it. "A bruised reed, he shall not break."-isaiah.

I hadn't thought of that, Dunrobin. I was talking about looking for a fight in YA answers, though. Good point.

TRISDABIT: I was thinking about people like you when I wrote this question. No, of course God doesn't stop loving you. Look, LOTS of straight Christians were born with a higher than average libido. That isn't an excuse for them to go out and fornicate, but nobody would dream of telling THEM that God turns his back in disgust every time they have a lustful thought.
People who are inclined to be hard on people like you need to remember: that still leaves the question, how can someone who feels that he/she was born with those desires hope to enjoy a Biblically-sanctioned marriage? That's a HUGE thing for anyone to be denied, because of something they feel they were born with.
If it is any consolation to you, I know a man (and his wife, and his kids) who came out of the lifestyle before his marriage. It wasn't easy though.
It's important to remember, too, if you're young, that ALMOST EVERYONE has his head turned by an attractive person of the same sex from time 2 time.

carpediem: Carol M has answered your question partially. Jesus' protection of the woman being stoned for adultery answers another part of it. The Old Testament dietary laws -- see Acts for Peter's dream about the unclean animals in the sheet. Then there are all the "grey areas" that aren't specifically addressed in Scripture see Romans 14.
JT - It just occurred to me, that wasn't your PERSONAL website was it? Yikes. I was attacking the website as if it were an impersonal Atheistic Monolith. My bad. But now you know how GOD feels when you rag on the Book. Thpppppppppp.

But I have to agree with you on what you said about THIS question (or non-question) JT, up to a point of course. It is ironic but really not all that surprising that the people who are squawking least lovingly about sexual sin are the ones who are harboring it in their own lives. Maybe it has something to do with self-loathing.
If only people could know that Jesus is REAL, and that he is a Friend of Sinners. He's there to HELP and understand, not beat down and crush.

The one thing that gets me being a homosexual and christian is the fact of feeling that I was born with this, but if it is an abomination to the Lord it is a sin. God doesn't create sin, so, what could have made me choose to be this way in my childhood knowing I'd be punished for it? Would you choose to do something if you were punished for it? I think the Lord wants me to use this as a testimony to my life what do you think?
Also will I be judged if I don't act upon this sin, but still believe I am a homosexual because of my likes in the same sex?

You know, people can say whatever they want to about the Bible. The fact remains that, more than anything, the Bible warns us not to do things that will get us killed or ruin our lives. I don't have a problem with Homosexuals. If being Gay is their thing, then I wish them the best of luck.
BUT, the fact still remains that Homosexuality is an extremely dangerous lifestyle. There are physical dangers, with AIDS and other STD’s that homosexuals have a very high likelihood of contracting. There are social dangers, because, quite frankly, an extremely large portion of society would just as soon put them all on an island and nuke the island than to give them a job flipping burgers. There are dangers from predators, because, quite frankly, many homosexuals prey on younger, less experienced homosexuals ALL THE TIME. Since I moved up here, I've been propositioned by four strange, shady Gay dudes that I've never seen in my life..... AND I'M NOT EVEN GAY!! I'm sure there are even more dangers to the Homosexual lifestyle, but I have to go do something.
At any rate, the main thing to remember is that the hate filled messages of "Reaping the Whirlwind" associated with the Christian stance on Homosexuality are coming from crotchety old preachers that believe that they finally found a Christ like way to focus their hate. The Bible does not profess hate to Homosexuals. It merely warns that Homosexuality is a dangerous lifestyle that is not worth the risk. This fact was established well over 2,000 years before the first official case of AIDS.

Yeah, right.
No irony or sarcasm?
People use religion as an excuse or crutch, depending on their motive at the time.
People who oppose abortion & homosexuality rarely, if ever, claim it to be solely a personal opinion, they invoke the bible to give themselves authority which they would not otherwise have.
And most logical people reject that false authority and recognize them for what they are.
I consider homosexuality a perverse lifestyle, but I don't hide my opinons behind a bible. I find nothing about the lifestyle that I would consider normal. But, the same is true of other things as well. And, what other people do is their own business. I have enough to do taking care of my own business without worrying about what my neighbors are doing. Obviously, some people lead very boring, uninteresting lives and must involve themselves with what other people are doing to add interest to their own boring lives.
Same with abortion. It's none of my business.
And, people use the bible (religion) as a crutch. When they want to engage in prohibited behavior, they justify it with the bible.
Which means those people who condemn others are the same kind of hypocrites so thoroughly condemned in their own rule book.
What was the question again? I was too busy pontificating and forgot what we were discussing.

What does one have to do with the other? Every religion condemns homosexuality. They can soften the blow, but basically every religion does. That includes Buddhism. Sorry, but you shouldn't have to court everything in order to be considered accepting. Harsh, but true. I am not going to court everything in order to make you feel good. I am not going lie and tell you that something is okay when it is not. It would be wrong for me to placate anyone. So if you ask, hope for my silence. If you insist you will get an answer and the truth _______ Christians pick and choice? At least we are up front and real about what we believe in. Even in the Bible people listened to the counsel of women Christians don't deny the truth just to be accepted.

But the Bible also says not to eat ribs, since ribs were from Adam.
If you want to believe in the Bible, great. Then believe in all of it. Don't try to make it into an umbrella protecting you from things that could scare you.
Take passages out of context isn't going to help prove anything.
AIDS still isn't a homosexual disease. It was actually spread through heterosexual relationships. Sorry--just because you straight doesn't make you immune to the disease. Homosexuality itself is not a disease, so don't treat it as one. You don't chose to be homosexual. It's part of you from birth.
As a Christian, why are we so judgemental? Are you gay? If no, then let it be. You aren't responsible for any soul other than your own.
Mark 12:30-31 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

what exactly is the question? I am a Christian and bible or not, it isn't my place to judge somebody for their sexual orientation. God doesn't judge until death, so why should we?
I'll admit there are a lot of so called "christians" who claim to be doing gods work and really just playing the part of a control freak. Those are in for a rude awakening when they get to heaven.
I know of several homosexual christians, just because your sexual oreintation isn't mainstream doesn't mean you don't believe in Christ.
As for the AIDS and pedophiles, those are growing more rapidly in the heterosexual community as opposed to the theory it is a "gay" thing.
I guess I just don't understand what it is you are asking exactly. But as a Christian you should know "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone".

You say you can't deny the Bible---do you condone slavery?? Think adulterers should be put to death?? Death to those who work on the Sabbath?? How can you single out homosexuality saying you support both old & new Testaments??? I'm not being a smart a**, I just want to know why that is always singled out?? Help me understand this, I can't seem to get a straight answer on it.

The Bible does state that, that sort of lifestyle is wrong in the eyes of the Lord, but, that does not mean that God does not Love you. There is saying..."Love the Sinner but Hate the Sin." whether the sin is being a drug user, or a drunk, or a murderer, or someone living in adultery or someone living a homosexual lifestyle, The Lord still loves the sinner, but hates the sin. All of these lifestyles are choices and do offend God.

miraclewhip,
You're right. The Bible lumps "men who lust men" into the same group as gossips and the greedy, et al. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Christians who focus on homosexuality (not the majority by any stretch) should be more focused on heterosexual marriages that are falling apart due to infidelity.

Christians do not attack or condemn homosexuals, but the word of God tells you what happens to those people with that sinful lifestyle.
Romans 1:25 -32 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
This is the word of God. Those who do not obey His word, condemn themeselves.
