I would do several things. Have you done much research on your condition? I would start with that.
Obviously, you have gone the traditional medical route. It doesn't seem to be working for you. There is a wonderful publication called the Townsend Letter (www.townsendletter.com) that puts out a whole issue each year dealing with lupus and other autoimmune diseases. You will find a wealth of information there. I would also go to a good massage therapist that does CranioSacral Therapy (www.upledger.com) as well as regular massage. You should get a great deal of relief from that. I would then go to a nutritionist that is experienced with Lupus and who also uses kinesthesiology as part of her/his practice. I wouild give acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine a try too.
None of these are quick fixes, but, I think they will give the best and longest lasting results. Good Luck

I agree with your doc on this one. Prednisone is not good for long term. I have Lupus also, and a bunch of other freebie stuff that goes with it. I take B12 daily, folic acid to replenish what my meds deplete in my body, calcium and a few others. I also wear hand splints when I type. They are a bit cumbersome but they help with my pain. Mine is mostly in my thumbs. Without the splints I would be screaming as I type. http://www.handeze.com/ has some lovely 3/4 gloves you can wear to support your hands/fingers. They feel like they are giving you a massage all day long. They are great for RA, sore hands, carpal tunnel and other hand troubles.
Unless you want to look like a chipmunk (fat cheeks) and be moody all the time---avoid the prednisone. It wreaks havoc in your system!!!
All the best,
soulwriter.

Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory. Also my doctor prescribed Pharmaceutical grade L-Glutamine 2-3 scoops daily. Best place to find it is Fitness Labs or Lindberg's nutrition center. I had nerve damage from chemo and this helped a lot. Also people with lupus I researched for my daughter and learned it was beneficial. Good luck and my daughter who was also recently diagnosed.

Ever tried cayanne pepper? Three teaspoons a day in apple juice will begin to clear this up and will keep it away if you continue doing this. And, you will also see improvements in other areas of you health. Don't forget to first do a bile cleanse with apple juice and prum juice only over a two day period. Gradually return to eating solid foods, eliminating starches and sugars as much as possible from now on.
