A pumpkin is actually a fruit, "eaten as a vegetable". I just looked it up. I didn't know either. Good question! : )

They're both fruits, as is a tomato. The definition is that fruit contain the seed of a parent plant. Veggies do not.

fruit do not always grow on trees.
Fruits are definedd as any gord like mass containing more than one seed. Watermelon, apples, oranges, tomatoes, squash and cucumber are all fruits
Avacados almonds walnuts, peaches and nectarines are all nuts.
Veggies are more interesting as a vegetable technically is anything edible that grows which includes fruits and nuts .

A pumpkin is a fruit. It is generally considered a vegetable because it is more nutritious than fruit, but it is in fact a fruit.

Actually, a watermelon is technically a berry. And to be specific a "Pepo" berry because it has a hard rind and a fleshy interior with seeds.
