so I ran away from my foster parents home when I was 16 and now I'm 19 years old. I moved in with them when I was 5 so there like my real mom and dad but I think, my family has moved on... I've called but they don't answer (they could just not be home).. should I continue to try keeping in contact or should I just move on with my life?

You would be amazed how forgiving people can be, but you have to remember that you have most likely hurt them terribly. You might want to try to write them a letter explaining your actions (the best you can) and apologizing and telling them that you would like them to be in your life again. Give them a GOOD address and phone number. The rest is up to them. You can't force anyone into a relationship. Good Luck!

I am sure they would love to hear from you. I am a Mother and my son always ran away. Not for that long of time but boy did I worry. It's the not knowing that is the worst. Keep trying. Maybe you can search for them on 411.com?

How far did you run? Is it possible for you to go to the home? I expect, seeing you in person would be something next to fantastic for all concerned. Obviously they raised you as their own, and they're deeply hurt. But I think a personal visit, if possible, is the route to take. To explain to them how much you regret your youthful behavior/actions.

If they were good to you, then why did you leave? Maybe the agency that placed you with them could be of assistance here. Try writing them a letter, if you don't get a response then I guess they don't want to keep in touch...

Out of respect for all they have done for you, you do need to contact them. When your biological family did not care for you this family took you in. Own up to your mistake and I am sure they will forgive you.

Good luck!

MAYBE START WITH A CARD IN THE MAIL JUST SO THAT THEY KNOW ALL IS OK. MAKE SURE TO LEAVE A RETURN ADDRESS IN CASE THEY WANT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU-JUST SEE IF IT BLOSSOMS FROM THERE.
