We can't always have what we want. Your mother or parents are ultimately responsible for the financial responsibilities of owning a pet, food, vet bills, etc. So it has to be her decision.

Just accept it. Love the cat you have and look to ways of making your mother's life easier, maybe taking more responsibility for caring for the cat you do have.

My mother never would hear of ANY pets. For some reason at one time, we had a duck in the backyard and I remember standing at the back door crying that the duck was out in the rain! My grandfather had a farm and the duck was taken there.

How I would have loved a kitten or a cat! It was 62 years before I got my first kittens and it was so wonderful for me. I now have five cats in my home.

The old saw about "good things come to those who wait" applies to you right now. May you have bunches of lovely kitties in your future!

Listen to your mom. There's probably a good reason she said no. Cats take a lot of work and cost money to care for. Some cats just don't get along with other cats. It might help to show your mom you're responsible enough to take good care of the cat you've got now.

I took it upon myself to bring my newest addition home while my mother was in the U.S. Now that he's been here for almost a year, she's adjusted. But I am old enough to take care of 2 cats, I can afford their food and vet bills. If you cant afford it, dont do it, listen to your mom

Tell your mom that you are going to foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks, and then never get rid of them. It's worked for me!
