Chi is the best brand out there. They are a bit pricey but they are worth the price.

Ceramic straighteners are great, less frizziness. Just remember to ALWAYS use a heat resistant mist spray on each section of hair you straighten, so you don't burn your hair.
Simple solution ~ a friend of mine just got her hair straightened at a salon, the process is like a reversed perm, lasts 8 to 9 mths. You can air dry your hair & it drys completely straight; you can also curl your hair, after you wash it, it becomes straight again. She's had this for 5 mths now, & her hair is still awesome! (cost is about $250. but looks well worth it! I mean think about it, with using the flat iron, 30 mins. to use & hair still isn't really straight, plus hair is now a little burned)

Well my little sister straightens her hair everyday, she has a great straightener, and it was cheap too she got it at wal mart. Its black and it say "wet 2 straight" or something like that. But is very good, she has had it for a while and her hair hasnt gotten damages YET. but i think by now she should of had a least some split ends but her hair is fine. Try it girl!

Go to Folica.com. They have great brands there. I have the Solia Professional Ceramic flat iron and I love it! Definitely make sure you purchase a ceramic one because they don't dry out your hair as much and heat more evenly. You can also choose from sizes as well.

Buy a ceramic one, they are best for your hair. You can get them for under $30.00 at Target and Walmart.
They make one that is for wet hair but it's really bad for your hair.
The healthiest way to straighten is with a blow drier and round brush. You can also buy a hot air curling iron and use it like a blow drier.

make sure to get one with ceramic plates...much less damage to you hair...a good ceramic one can cost like $100, ut i got one for $70 and its perfect...just go to a place like sephora or a professional hair place and ask them for brandnames...dont buy it from them(they usually jack up the prices!)...then you can try buying it online at a hair expert website
