Holy Water is a sacramental.

Sacramentals are sacred signs that help us live holy lives. Although they do not produce sanctifying grace

Sacramentals include blessings of persons, meals, objects (including water), and places.

The priest blesses the congregation during Mass.

Christians bless their meals. "Bless us O Lord and these thy gifts, ..."

Priests bless water, animals, ships, homes, and even automobiles. "God bless this home and all those who enter here."

With love in Christ.

The Catholics, who fall under the catagory of christians (as they belive in Christ), belive in Holy Water. It is used in baptisms and blessings. It is kept in churches in a structure called a font. More is kept at the entrance of the church in something called a stoup. When people enter the church they dip their fingers in the water and make the sign of a cross. Holy Water is water that has been blessed by a priest and sometimes salt is added as a preservative.
Hope that helps

Catholic Christians believe in Holy Water. We do not "make" Holy water. It is only natural water that is used. It becomes Holy, after the priest blesses the water.

Holy Water is used for Baptism, & is also used for the Catholic to bless him/herself with. When a Catholic sprinkles Holy water to Bless themselves, it is to remind the Catholic of his/her Baptismal vows.

yes catholics bless their water, and that is all,
before Vatican II in the 1960's , priests added salt to make holy water. The salt was exorcised of possible evil spirits and then mixed with water during the blessing.
