I used a fall theme for my wedding last November.

I used small galvanized water pails. I wrote on the side of the pail, placing our names and the date of the wedding. I inserted styrofoam in the water pail, inserted a white tapered candle and place fall flowers around the candle.

I bought the water pails in the craft department at Wal-Mart for around $1.00. The candles and flowers were another $1.00. So the centerpiece was around $2.00 each.

For the main table, my mother bought a huge glass goblet, filled with water and placed goldfish. She then used a fall flowers wreath to place around the goblet. It was unique and beautiful.

We did not lite the candles. It was just a visual.

We used alot of fall colored leaves and scattered on the table and around the cake table too.

your centerpieces could be your wedding favors in a pretty basket. If you want Flowers try something special like sunflowers in a horn of plenty type vase. I really hate having to talk over/around some large tall centerpiece. You really have a lot of very Halloween/fall type things you could work with . Knowing your theme or color choices could get you some more detailed answers. Good luck and get creative.

I would go with a cute little vase, some fall colored flowers with a mix of your theme color for your wedding. Maybe scatter some flower pedals, or leaves around the center piece. I would stay away from candles, especially it being outside, something bad can happen.

A couple ideas, use dried flowers or flower petals instead of fresh. Put small candles in small lanterns in case of a breeze for safety. You could use small potted containers of mums that are in bloom in the fall. decorate the pots with paper and ribbons. Also, small 2 or 3 tiered cakes with colourful autumn leaves (frosted creations) decorated on cream colour frosting base. Maybe a local bakery could do it for a reasonable price.

Good luck

candles in candle holders are a great inexpensive idea to save money not to mention looks very romantic.

- you can have a bowel of floating candles with some silk flower petals scattered around.

- several small tealight candles and sparklely holders are a great alternitve. just place several around in any fashion you like, light them and it looks like stars twinkleing in the sky!

it all depends on your theme and colors to what would look the best. not to mention how much you want to spend. keep in mind candles and silk flowers are a lot less expensive then fresh flowers, but again that's up to you. :)

- a simple arrangement with a piece of cloth in the color you choose, crimpled around a small flower vase and some candles is a great romantic look also.

- you might like placeing several loose flowers with stems on around some candles or even a picture frame with a favorite photo of the both of you too.

- or a combo of any of the ones above! :D

- some silk fall colored leaves look great scattered around on tables as well with strains of ivy or even just a center piece of arranged flowers.

whatever you decide im sure will look just wonderful! hope things go smoothly!

A white paper birch log, 12" long(sawed in 1/2). Drill 3 holes in to hold pine scented or cinnamon tapered candles(2 shorter than the middle one) Hot glue pine cones or acorns to accessorize the candles. Arrange silk fall leaves under the log, Sit them in white toule with clear mini lights. Best wishes!

Most ceneterpieces are with flowers and/or candles. But you can do your own variation on this to make it your own.
What about mason jars as candle holders? Or terra cotta pots with mums? Maybe a basket filled with apples & nuts & silk fall leaves & miniature pumpkins. Or a container filled with cranberries and a candle placed in that.

These are a bit pricey, but cool.

You can get some pretty bowl and float candles or fall colored flowers in them - its really pretty and inexpensive. You can send the bowls home with the guests if you can not use them later.
