Sometimes people laugh as a defense mechanism. I wouldn't take it to heart too much.

If however the pregnant person was trying to break the news to a parent, for example, they will need to repeat the statement again so the person they are telling is fully aware it is not a joke.

Have a serious look on your face, if they just sit there laughing and you are just looking at them with a serious look, the persone will sonner or later look up and notice that you mean buisness and then most likley they will say "you are pregnant then?' or something along those lines-then they will feel like total idiots for laughing. But that is rude if you are scared to tell your best friend of something that your pregnant and they start laughing, a real friend would try and understand.I really hope that this helps besides people telling you to slap or punch them because that is not the mature and its not the right thing to do to handle this sort of situation.9and sry,my spelling stinks really badly.*_*

You ask more questions. I don't know the details surrounding this situation, however if this someone happens to be the other parent than this is a life changing event. Depending on the level of commitment in the relationship, laughter, even BIG laughter can be a sign of many different things.
If this someone is a key person in your life and its important that they are involved in sharing this experience with you, than you owe it to yourself and to them, to overlook any negative effect their laughter had on you for long enough to understand what they were feeling when they let out the gut buster.
Is it nervous laughter? Is it shock or disbelief? Is it fear? Is it absolute joy and excitement? Find out and let me know. I'll be happy to respond to new information from you. Don't forget that your going to be quite emotional as your body adjusts to the changes of pregnancy. Oh! and by the way congratulations!

Well it all depends who you tell just say you've told that person
before that you were pregnant but really wasn't and you tell them
again they may make them laugh. Or it could be that they were
trying to get pregnant and could't at the time so they just laugh at
you from getting mad at you. Or it could be that there excited
for you.

What would make them laugh. That should be good news. I would tell them they hurt your feelings, and that it is not funny/

inappropriate response?... i would say that person has something to hide like they're jealous or just embrassed that you should tell them because they don't feel that close to you in friendship or It could be too that they just don't know how to respond.

I am hoping here that it wasn't the daddy who laughed for that would just be wicked in more ways than one.

I'd ask them what was funny about it so that I could laugh too.

So 1) don't talk to them and 2) don't go around announcing your pregnancy status.
