Check out the AKC website for breed specific rescue info, or call your local vet, many of them will have phone numbers or info on shelters and rescues.

Put in your zip code and that you're looking for a dachshund and it will show you all the ones for adoption near you. Remember, many rescue groups will go to great lengths to transport a pet to a new home, so even if it isn't near you they may be able to find someone to bring it to you.

Happy hunting. I will get my neighbors for you. My dogs want to kill it. We've been ready to too so if you give him a good home away from me the neighborhood would appreciate it. (actually there is another one in the neighborhood that needs to be rehomed too)
