Dating and such is tough, so I'll leave that to someone else other than to say that if your feelings are real, they won't fade, but if you're infatuated, they probably will so just act natural and give it time.

For grades, I almost never had to study or work in school. There are two tricks:
1) Understand everything that is said in class. If you dont' understand it, ask the teacher to explain in other words or see them after class. It's far easier to remember stuff on a test if you actually understood what was going on in class.
2) Always do all of your homework and get it done right away. You can get terrible grades just from not getting your work done (and that should be the easy part since you have the web and books to look up the answers in).

Lots of people have a hard time getting organized especially going into Middle School. Try this..... Have a folder for each class that you take with you to that class with your book and paper/pens etc. Get a homework planner or just have a tablet that you keep all of your assignments in. Take this planner/tablet with you from class to class. Towards the end of the day look it over so you know which books/folders/tablets you need to take with you before you leave. It took me a while to get used to it but you'll be glad you did.

As far as the guy goes don't fret too much it's normal to be confused. One minute you like him the next you want him to be your friend. Try to occupy your mind with other things if you are obsessing.

Remember before you know it you'll be registering for High School. Which is a lot better than Middle School as far as the all the drama goes. Try to find something that you are good at outside academics. Sports, Music, Art, Singing, Dancing, Photography, Clubs, School Newspaper anything and invest some time and energy into it. Everybody should be successful with something at school. Try not to let all the gossiping and backstabbing get to you. I know kids at this age can be ruthless but later in life you'll be happy knowing you weren't "as evil" as the rest of them.

This advice comes from thinking about all the things I wish I would have done in middle school, and from watching my own son succeed in middle school.

Sit down and write out your goals. Yup, even though you're only in middle school. Education goals, and personal goals. This will help you figure out what is important to you, and help you get there.

Talk to your parents or any other adult you trust, honestly about any problems you are having and try to listen.

Try not to judge other students based on sterotypes, and choose your friends wisely.

Do your best when it comes to schoolwork, but don't be too hard on yourself if your grades aren't always A's. Everyone has their own talents and you will find yours.

Be clear about your boundaries with boys. No sex yet. :)

Good luck with middle school! and hope you have some fun.

For the grades--get a friend or tutor to help you.
Organization--WalMart has good cheap organization things. You just need to spend a day or two organizing things.
Guy friend--I really don't know about that. If you really think you like him and don't want to, then possibly find some new guy friends or more than friends that you don't mind liking.

im graduating this year, and ive been through what u r going through. if u think it is time to take the next step into your friendship with this boy, your should first tell him how you feel. i bet he will appreciate it. and, if u need help getting organized, u could use lots of subject dividers for your binders, and different colored highlighters for color coding. its natural to be thinking of your friend most of the time, but try to focus hard on your schoolwork. i hope i helped. good luck.

Middle school is hard for everybody. If I managed to survive it, you can. If your school has a counselor, talk with him/her. If you get along OK with your parents or older siblings, talk to them, too.
