That thing could have gotten infected, jeopardizing the occurence of the crucifixion.

And on Jesus, it served no useful anatomical or biological function.

God did not want Grandchildren.

God is the Master of intelligent design. Why give Jesus the organ?

Because Jesus was a man, and He possessed every physical body part that other men have.

Presumably, Jesus urinated just as often as most other people. So it's not quite right to say that a penis would have no biological function for Him.

Lots of men are born with genitalia that they never use for one reason or another -- severe disability, for instance, or in some cases, they take religious vows of celibacy.

Finally, Jesus chose to forsake marriage for the sake of His Father's Kingdom. Without genitalia, He would not have had the chance to make the choice -- the choice would have already been made for Him.

By having the opportunity to "use the equipment" but choosing to remain celibate, Jesus was inspiring certain people to forsake marriage and sex for God's sake. He was also inspring all of us with regard to putting God first in our lives.

Hey Overseas and broke,

Don't forget that Jesus still had to pee. The function of a Penis and Testicles is not just simply for sex. So your statement about it not serving any useful anatomical and biological function is off.

Because God, Jesus, or whatever you wish, are just imaginary beings created in mans' image. God is just another fake creation by man.

Humanity has created many Gods, for example – Gods of Olympus, Ancient Egypt, Babylon and so on. Most of us are atheists about most Gods humanity has created, except the latest craze, the current God in the Bible. Learned atheists have also rejected this version of a God, but some hard-core believers still hang on, presumably until a better image of God is created by man.

Faith in God seems to be nothing more than humans attempting to run away from reality, an excuse to avoid thinking and evaluating evidence. Faith is just an emotional escape and really just a substitute for opening your eyes to reason.

Believers talk about God creating man in his own image. It’s in the Bible so it’s fact – get a grip, get real. The facts suggest the exact opposite. Man created God in his own image. I’m sure humanity will disregard this God, as they have disregarded all previous Gods, it’s just a matter of time before humanity creates another God that better serves their emotions and image.

It sounds to me like intelligent design skipped over you.

Jesus was born a male child and was circumcised according to Jewish law.

Read the rest of the scriptures and maybe you will understand a little of the facts.

Being single and celebate is a valid vocation. Check out what St. Paul says about getting married or not.

God Bless You, ;-)

Well, for starters Jesus was a man. Those parts are standard equipment. Further, he was a Jewish man and, therefore, presumably circumcised (thus reducing the chance of infection).

As for useful biological function, I think that being able to take a whiz would qualify as useful.

You said "And on Jesus, it served no useful anatomical or biological function." Did Jesus not pee???

Are you suffering from an almost fatal case of ignorance? Jesus was half Spirit, and half human. His human side had all the functions we have. He could feel hunger, pain and even he had to urinate occasionaly. Use your head for something besides holding your ears apart.

If you want the perfect critique of intelligent design "theory," watch The March of the Penguins.

When I see what those poor birds go through to insure there will be little penguins to carry on the species, I have to ask myself, "Who would call this intelligent?"

Just my own opinioin, of course.

(It may seem cool to be so flippant about such a seriously generous act, but I don’t agree.) To answer your question, (in my opinion) Jesus had to serve God’s will on earth as a man (human- in ALL aspects) in order to experience the sacrifice that was necessary to bridge the gap for us unholy sinners to be worthy of association with our Holy God.

If you come as a man, you take the whole package. He still has to urinate and grow a beard (testosterone does that)
