My last. A friend called. Other than the bad cell reception, I had a really nice time.

I think my best birthday was my fiftieth. A huge party had been arranged to celebrate my "passing" and it was so good to spend the evening with a houseful of good friends. I work away from home half the year so I seldom see many of the friends I've known for years. Many of those friends also work away from home but nearly everyone just happened to be home that week. I received the usual silly gifts and everyone had fun. We just told stories and reminisced. It was so nice.
Of course, when I first learned of the party I objected given my personality. But when it was all said and done it was such a good time. We don't see friends often enough any more. We don't see those who mean the most to us as much as we should. It's nice to know others care about us and will take time out of their busy day to celebrate such a traumatic event as a fiftieth birthday. The party made the whole deal bearable.

My 40th birthday - we were in Germany and I had gone with my husband to a doctor's appointment. We thought he would be diagnosed with cancer, but it turned out to be benign! On the way home we stopped at a quaint little restaurant on the side of a mountain and he asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I had been hinting for months that I wanted an emerald ring. When he pulled the ring box out of his pocket, I began to cry and the entire restaurant filled with people applauded, because they thought he was proposing! I wear my emerald and diamond ring every day. Thank you for a very good memory!!

That would have to be my 28th:) Having missed a concert years before, I eventually managed to catch U2 in A'dam on the exact day of my b-day. Great concert, great memories!
That said I am planning to make my 30th more memorable still:)
