We should NOT allow it!!!!! There should be NO rewards for breaking our laws!!!! There are reasons why we have immigration laws!!! And,they are GOOD reasons (TOO BAD they are not being enforced!!)
ONE: we can NOT allow massive amounts of poor, uneducated people to come here!!! Even if they were legalized and paid taxes, it would amount to NOTHING!!! They would actually be getting back MORE than what they paid in, with the Earned Income Tax credit!!!! The EXTRA money they get, comes from taxpayers pockets!!! PLUS, they get welfare benefits, which are subsidized by the taxpayers!!!
Hospitals are closing in my state, because illegals come across the border, and ABUSE our medical system!!! Where will MY family go, when they need medical services???
We can NOT take care of ALL the poor people in the world!!! And, mexico is NOT a poor country!!! They need to be taking care of their OWN people, instead of sending them over here to be OUR problem!!! We have enough of our OWN poor people right here in this country!!! We could be helping THEM, instead of foreigners!!!

Sorry I can't convince you that they should be allowed to stay because I don't believe they should. They have already broken the law by entering and remaining in our country illegally. They say they want to be a citizen with all their hearts, but they do not take to proper steps to become an American citizen. Many immigrants say they come to make a better life for themselves and their families. They don't even realize how far they can get, and how much money they really can make because they will not become citizens. They could have just as much money, cars, and houses as we do if they could get paid the same. The only way that will happen is if they become American citizens. As an illegal immigrant they will just have to keep doing dirty work for 2 and 3 bucks an hour.

The reason that the Bush Administration is pushing for amnesty has nothing to do with security or with the desire to give illegals a better life.
The only reason he's pushing for it is because the SPP (Security and Prosperity Partnership) between Canada, the US, and Mexico is scheduled to be completed by 2010. In order for the free flow of traffic portion to be properly implemented, all residents must have official status of some sort or other.
In addition, by granting these illegals resident status (estimates very between 10 - 30 million) it opens the door for them to legally sponsor in their brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, children etc. Once these people are sponsored in, it allows them to do the same thing. The resulting number of immigrants could easily explode to 50 million or more in the next 10 years, creating a large influx of residents and new citizens who support the SPP objectives of the Bush administration to remove our borders.
That's why our borders remain unprotected. The goal is to eliminate them. FYI, the private organization of corporations who developed the SPP plan (same group who developed NAFTA and CAFTA - which was pushed by Bush) has already made presentations to Congress on why we should be forming a North American Union. They advocate a single currency, a single passport, integrated security (which is underway right now) and a single Parliament.
Bush's amnesty plan's are designed to give everyone status before this process is fully in place. It allows for an influx of American voters who will be open to integrating with Mexico.
In the end, the sovereignty of the US will be gone and our work force will be replaced by folks who'd love to crowd into a manicured apartment complex and take engineering jobs for $30K a year. Their quality of life would be much better.
I don't mean to sound prejudiced. I love the Latino's, their culture, and their work ethic. But it's important for Americans to realize that there's a larger picture in the background than the feeble case presented by the media. If we fall for their deception, we lay the foundation for the loss of our Constitution, meaning our children will no longer have a Bill of Rights.

Your whole initial question is wrong - we SHOULD NOT allow mass immigration. We need to start enforcing the laws - those who've come here illegally are CRIMINALS and if your first act, the one that gets you here, is a CRIMINAL act, you should be punished and certainly should NOT be rewarded with citizenship and government assistance or payments of any kind. Apparently you already know this.
Those who advocate turning a blind eye towards the fact people have come here illegally often actually admit that criminals should be caught and punished - but they then say that ignoring our immigration laws is not a crime! Their lunacy is revealed when they are offended by the use of the term "illegal immigrant", which they call a form of racism and their insistence that we use the term "undocumented" instead.
I say treat illegal immigrants the same way Mexico does. If you check into their policies and practices you'll see what a double standard their president has when he says we are too tough on illegal immigrants here.

We should allow large numbers of LEGAL immigrants OF OUR CHOOSING into this country for the following reasons:
1 - It makes our country stronger to have a larger population of HIGHLY-MOTIVATED citizens. As China is likely to be our greatest strategic threat in this century we're going to need all the people (especially SMART people) that we can muster.
2 - It will minimize the entitlement progams' (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid) lack of funding problems that are just around the corner as the Baby Boomers retire. More young people working means more money to pay off the promises made to retired workers.
3 - It will make our economy stronger and that will make the COUNTRY stronger. (This answer relates to #s 1 & 2 above.)
Immigration, even in relatively large numbers, is GOOD but it must be CONTROLLED!

It is very hard to get legal papers from most countries into the US. In Mexico and South America particularly, it is near impossible unless you are very wealthy and can bribe the proper officials. In addition, the US is hardest country legally get papers for. If we don't manage efficient policy they will come anyway.

we should force the government to amend the immigration laws to allow poor people to qualify for legal immigration, and allow more immigrants in each year. Right now it is a joke. People come illegally because most of them will never qualify, it is a catch 22... you are poor, so dont qualify...you will bever make a reasonable wage in your country...so you are stuck. The ones that come, are making all the difference in their countries. And it is not like they are getting handouts, they are working hard! 2 or 3 jobs sometimes, but not only do they accept it, they are thankful for the chance to work so hard and make good money! They dont think themselves too superior to clean hotels or pick up your dirty dishes in a restaurant! They are thankful for the opportunity! They are not coming over to piss off the gringo, they do it for themselves and their families. Now, you try to convice me that I am wrong.

Because they are willing to do work which American residents just do not want to do - garbage collection, street cleaning, toilet attendant jobs like that. Those jobs tend to be done by the latest immigrants in any society untill the immigrant gets a foot on the ladder and wants something better. The jobs need to be done so another lot of immigrants appear to take the place of those that moved up the ladder

Maybe if you stopped spamming then someone would care enough about you to answer.
To me, most immigrants living in extreme poverty are economical refugees. If your so used to your perfect, luxurious life to offer a helping hand to impoverished people, then, well, I'd call you unpatriotic. I remind you that our laws are not perfect. Jeezus, once slavery was allowed and gay marriage wasn't.
Have you thought that these people are thinking a little more about the survival of their starving families then about some silly law?
