How can people get up-tight and even kill because of their religion?
I just don't understand how intelligent people can believe in organised religion. If your religion is truly the only religion…then why are there so many different religions claiming the same thing?

Isn't it a waste of time to go to churches, musoleums, temples…whatever…all worshiping what each one claims as their God.

Life would be so much easier and peaceful if we just found the peace within ourselves…and didn't need institutions or ancient writings to tell us what rituals we should live by, sacrifices we must do, how we should pray…blah blah blah...it's crazy that so many people are sucked into this way of thinking. I don't get it.

Have you ever read Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason?" Its a book about how organized religion is full of crap. some quotes:

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by
the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church...... All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."

Yyyyeeehhhaaawww!!!! Im with you sister!! And guess what? I'm a Pastor! You see, organized religion is a false church. If you read the Bible it is THE false church or the harlot of the end times. Religion has been the source or cause of nearly every war (along with money and resources) It is in history books that many people have died at the hand (usually the end of a sword) of another because of religion. You are 100% RIGHT ON! But let me pose this question, with out religion where would the world be right now? Better off? Think so? Not bloody likely. Here is my take on it, religion fails, there is no doubt about that. But without religion, without anyone to convict people in thier heart man would run uncontrolled because thier is / are no guidelines, no rules, no consequences. Laws dont work do they? Or they work for some and not for others, or they work when the judge, district attorney or high paid defense lawyers want them to, or when public opinion is loud enough. So law is an after-the-fact circumstance. What has stopped us from totally wiping ourselves off the face of the earth a long time ago? The conviction in our individual hearts that God is watching us. So religion, for all of its flaws, does have its place eh? And if man had the ABILITY to find peace within himself why isnt or hasnt that happened yet? We are no where near anything like that, at least not on a global scale or even just one country. Yup you're right on that also, it is amazing that so many people get sucked into that. Its because we instinctively know that there is a God, we know that there is a better way and most of go to some church, mosque or temple seeking the answers. Nope institutions sure dont work either, right again. Why are there so many religions? Can you name how many different cultures or languages there are? And you probably dont get it because you are on the outside looking in. Go inside one of those churches or mosques or temples sometime and see what is happening. You probably wont find it on your first try but seeking IS the answer.

Nope I have no idea why anyone would close there mind to the world and have faith instead. The only other thing it compares to is in childhood when you're brain accepts whatever it is told as the truth to prevent you from testing to see if the river is relay full of crocodiles. So the only logical explanation is that the mind of a theist is trapped in this child like state of acceptance. However that theory doesn't stand up as they reject scientific fact. Perhaps they are told that and then they are told that they must shut there mind to everything else. Which would point to religion as being a means of control forcing people to believe what someone else wanted.

No religion is the correct one, and all religions have got it wrong.

There are many major religions in the world, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, and so on. Within each major religion there can also be many minor religions. For example, within Christianity there is Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and so on. Within Islam there is Shiite, Sunni etc.

In summary there are many hundreds of different religions in the world all with their devoted believers and followers. Talk to any devout religious person and they will almost emphatically insist that their religion is the right one, it’s fact, and any non-believer is doomed.

Commonsense and logic would suggest that if there was any truthful or factual basis to religion, then only one of these religions could be correct, not all of them. However, in my view, it’s highly unlikely that any of these man-made religions bear any resemblance to fact or the truth, and are more likely to be the result of simplistic human intelligence looking for an escape from reality.

Religion is really just evil in disguise.

Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began. There is considerable evidence to classify religion as evil, and talk of religion (Gods etc) should be banned. Because the records prove over and over again throughout humanity that religion is clearly responsible for crimes against humanity, taking part in any religious activity should also be outlawed and made a criminal offence.

The world would be a much happier and peaceful place if religion ceased to exist. Although there are some decent religious believers and preachers, they are unwittingly spreading evil around our world, and that they should simply keep their beliefs and thoughts to themselves in the best interests of humanity, or suffer the consequences for their actions.

People should consider that the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned the planet into Hell.

You may be saying that based on your understandings of what a religion is which are drawn from experiences of Christianity and other religions but don't necessarily apply to Islam. So here are a couple of points which may help to correct such misunderstandings; There is no church hierarchy in Islam

The Spirit of God is peace, love, light, life, and liberty among other things. Does religion seem to have anything to do with those things when you look at it carefully?

To me it seems that organized religion represents the human attempt to please God by our own efforts, which true Christians know is impossible.

I think organization eventually kills religion. Even in Wicca, there are a lot of morally suspect covens out there...

I think when you "organize" something, it puts a few people "in charge", and maybe these people have no business having that much "power" as it eventually corrupts.

i replaced into tricked into your question. Now i do no longer see a question. yet, now that i'm right here, i will share what i think of. i think of which you're remarkable approximately prepared religions- and the all or no longer something, in or out, mentality that could upward push up from them. i think of it rather is going to be greater approximately relationships. i think of it rather is why Jesus did no longer pass after the plenty yet rather prevented them. He spent a lot of his time with in basic terms some. i think that replaced into to coach us that each and every physique the eye-catching issues he had to instruct approximately love, friendship and God are terrific discovered interior the context of relationships, families and/or communities instead of in "agencies." Jesus used the analogy of salt- "you are the salt of the earth." This parable teaches that his followers are to pass into some thing (i.e. "the earth" or international) and characteristic a great effect there. they are to characteristic style and a great effect to existence, no longer the different. prepared faith would be like the salt shaker that doesn't sprinkle the salt yet maintains to be unto itself, pleased with it is so called saltiness while each and all of the at the same time because it rather is dropping it rather is saltiness (some thing that Jesus warned approximately). Jesus would have captured some thing very enormous and arranged. yet he did no longer. yet he expected that what he began might exchange into enormous. And with something that's growing to be effectively, there frequently arises the will for some "business enterprise." it rather is a distinctive undertaking for his followers to maintain the emphasis on love and relationships and yet shelter some order to their endeavors. some thing to think of approximately.
