are also an abomination. so how come there are gay bashers, but not any tattoo or peircing bashers? they are all in the same verse and are all abominations. and one is just as bad as the other. so why oh why are tattoos and peirceing so accepted when they are in the same category as gays?

Because these Christians don't read the entire Bible. They only take what they like out of context to suit their own needs. I don't see groups protesting outside of tattoo shops with their hate!

there are tattoo and peircing bashers, trust me I've ran into them at my church. Some people believe that having a tattoo is a sin because it is markings on your skin but in the reality of it. In the olden times savages cut themselves for their gods.
With the whole gay bashers thing, people have a verse in the Bible that they can cleary read, "Man shall not lay with man".

This question seems to come up quite a bit. The truth of the matter is, Christians are not under the law covenant and they never have been. As for homosexuality, it is one of the practices included in the Greek term "porneia." For instance, at Jude (verse) 7, this Greek word is used to describe fornication, the practice for which those of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. Christ uses the same Greek word porneia for fornication at Mark 7:21-23. And in verse 23, he plainly states that these things are wicked and defile a man. Therefore, it is not the Hebrew scriptures (the Old Testament) only which condemn this practice. The Christian Greek scriptures (New Testament) condemn it as well.

Good point. The 'sin'-bashers only apply certain verses that suit their agenda. They practice selective obedience to the bible & different groups obey different things in the bible, which is just another man-made book full of contradictions and ought not to be used as a manual for human living.

Very good question! It seems that this is a case of selective hearing....or reading, as the case may be. I know a lot of christians who have body piercings and/or tatts. But it's not really a big deal, is it? You're going to get a lot of folks tell you that it's not even a similar thing.....body modification, and homosexuality. But the fact remains that they say the bible is right, and not open to interpretation..unless it's something they want to do. A sin is a sin, right? LOL...Well, this lesbian will laugh her fool head off when she sees lines and lines of folks waiting to get tatts removed and letting piercings close up. But they won't do that, will they? Because what THEY say is right.....which just proves they don't all really live by the bible.

Because back when the Bible was written, tattoos and piercings on a man were signs of homosexuality.

They aren't today, though.

What's more, tattoos and piercings don't cut a good 30 years off a man's lifespan. Nor do they put him at greatly increased risk for herpes, hepatitis, AIDS, HIV, HPV, anal cancer, or suicide.

Homosexuality does all that, and more. So, consider God's prohibition against gay sex to be a favor from Him.

I had this question for my Pastor as I have a tattoo and piercings. First of all this was done before I knew Jesus. I have since been forgiven for ALL my sin.

Secondly, if all Christians want to take the Word (bible) word for word then they should not have any hands or eyes. For the bible says if the hand offends you cut it off. If the eyes offend you pluck them out. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. We would all be blind and handless then right? God loves everyone where they are at but He won't leave you there. He will mold you into His perfect will for your life if you let Him.

Christians don't hate Gay people and we don't bash them, Have you ever heard.

"Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner" Love everyone as Jesus loves you

Also where did you read that tattoos and piercings were bad?

Some people may say that their body is a temple and they are decorating it for Christ.

The bible does not say that homosexuality is an abomination. People's interpretation of the Book think so.

man..that's a great question!! mind you, there are A LOT of sins mentioned in the bible that many heterosexuals have no problem ignoring while they bash gay people...such as adultery. man... for all those who claim that same sex marriage will ruin the family and institution of marriage have somehow forgotten that ADULTERY causes this, not homosexuals
