No, although it's definitely fiction, it leaves alot to be desired. Do I really want to read chapters upon chapters describing who begate who? NO.

In my opinion, the bible was meant to teach lessons (much like fables), not to be taken literally as our president and so many other misguided Christians do. I know faith can be a strong force, but are we really supposed to believe a man survived living in a whale, or that all species of animals on earth fit on one boat?

Check out Penn & Teller's episode of BullShit on the bible, it's quite informative.

No, there are many fantasy books that are much better written than the Bible. The Bible could be a lot better, if it were not a collection of stories hob nailed together to make it look like it was written as a continuous narrative. If you can stay awake, try reading the Koran.

If the Bible is fiction, then somebody confident 1000's of girls and adult males persons all during the mideast to lie for the sake of a miles less costly examine. maximum pupils agree that the 1st gospels have been written 30 years after the events defined, so lots of persons linked would nevertheless have been alive whilst the texts have been written, adequate to make noise in the event that they remembered it diffrently. upload to this the undeniable fact that there is extra periferal historic data (stuff written in recovered letters, archives, etc.) for the life of the Christ than there is for the 1st Roman Emperor.

It is known to have been altered at least a million times

There are also hundreds of different versions available around the globe

But there are some good stories in there. It is pity a lot is taken out over the centuries which kind of disturbs the original messages that were once in there.

But like any other book: take out the information which is useful to you and learn lessons from it

Ask a stupid question....the Bible is used extensively by ANE archaeologists because it is historically accurate, the Bible doesn't contradict any archaelogical find or hard fact of science, the Bible is also full of prophecies which any rational person can see were fulfilled acurately. So many get excited by the incredibly vague predictions of nostradamus, when in scripture there are very accurate predictions fulfilled exactly as stated. If you need to believe the Bible is a fantasy, your going to have to work hard avoiding the truth, I strongly suggest you do no research.

There is no core evil to the universe like in Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. This earth is the worst earth in the universe according to Swedenborg.

I'd like to think the inspired word of God would hold a bit more weight than that of your "Lord of the Rings".

Well, I don't buy it, and I'm not terribly entertained by it except as fodderf for theological arguments, but it was not written as a novel so I don't think I can categorize it as such. Like Ann Coulter's book: it's considered "non fiction" even though I think much of it is hogwash.
