Benvenuti's only suffered 7 losses over his 90 fight plus career. He is one of the best 10 middleweights ever. Although Basilio's record is not as impressive as Benvenuti's, Basilio having suffered 16 losses, I think Basilio based on his fights with Robinson and having been the welterweight and middleweight champion of the world gives him an edge in this fight. I think Carmen could take whatever Nino dishes out and give it back to him in spades and scores a mild upset split decision win against Nino who isn't as a rugged and tough as Carmen.

Carmen Basillio would have beaten Nino Benvenuti, he would have been too strong. There are some strong men in the middleweight division and Carmen was one of them.
