The Sony is probably the better one for image quality. It also has image stabilisation which is vital even if you use a 4x optical lens.

i say get the canon dells arent that reliable they break down more easily then any other brand but if it says 12x and you only need it for your trip i say get that one because you will be able to take pictures of objects farther away. i have a 4x zoom and it does not zoom as far as im thinking you want it to go.

Sony is best in Electronics or Digital Camera better other than company.

I'd say if you can afford the Sony, go for it. Those cameras are really in two different leagues.
