E. Charles - W 89 (KO's 49) TF 115 - W pct 77% - KO pct 43% - wins over J. Maxim[3], Moore{2}, Walcott and Louis - KO'ed by Louis - #13 ranked fighter (please, no doubt overrated)

Spinks - W 31 (KO's 21) TF 32 - W pct 97% - KO pct 66% - wins over M. Johnson, Mustafa Muhammad, Qawi, Holmes and Conney - KO'ed by Tyson - #42 ranked puncher - #41 ranked fighter
He became 1st Lt Hwy wt to win Hwy wt title
1976 Gold medal at middle wt
Titles at Lt Hwy wt and Hwy wt

Almost all the fighters that Spinks fought had more experience that him. As good as Charles was he was not a power puncher. Spinks was very unorthodox boxer and a good puncher. Check the record Charles was KO'ed by several nobodies. I take Spinks in a majority decision.

It depends what spinks showed up. Spinks was a good fighter, but didnt want to train. If he trained for the fight and did the right thing, I would say spinks.
