It *may*. Unfortunately, sometimes once they start marking, they never stop, but this should not keep you from getting your dog fixed. He *may* stop marking and you will lower his chance of early death by as much as half.
Good luck with the surgery and congrats on being a responsible owner and getting him fixed! : )

If you have a dog neutered between 6 months and 1 year of age, or before they have reached sexual maturity (varies by breed and dog, but is usually around 8 months), they will probably not mark their territory or lift their leg to urinate. If they have already started, neutering may slow it down but will probably not stop it.
I would recommend going back to basic housetraining. Get a shake can (aluminum can with a few pennies in it) and shake it everytime he lifts his leg. This will startle him and his muscles will contract. You've got about 7 seconds to get him outside, and let him mark there. Wherever he has already gone, spray with a doggy-specific odor neutralizing spray. Otherwise, he will actually be physically stimulated to go everytime he smells his own urine, and will repeatedly use the same spot. You'll have to treat him as if he is not housebroken until he stops.
A couple of notes: I would have him neutered anyway, neutering eliminates the chances of contracting all sorts of cancers. Also, though this will probably not help, marking (atleast psycologically) is a good thing. It means your dog has a strong pack drive.
Good luck!

No, most animals don't know their fixed. Because my dog is still the same and the cat acts as through nothing happened, he still tries to breed with the females and their fixed to. Both cats mark all over the house that's why they ended up outside.

No, but sometimes if they smell something new, like a new person or pet in the home, they'll start marking indoors. He may just need some re-training.

Since he has started, it might not work , but is still worth a try. He's better off neutered for a lot of other reasons anyway.

It is a start but you will still have to give 6-8 weeks for his hormone levels to level out. If you still have a problem let us know I have tips to help once they are neutered.

Get him clipped! It will only get worse if you don't. Dogs mark for dominance. If he does not have his balls, he will not have that drive to compete and he will stop marking. Plus, it's better for his health in general.

Since he has just started it may stop him. You will probably have to reinforce his potty training.
