Cricket is a popular team sport in Britain. "Not cricket" means "not according to the rules" or, by implication, not fair.

It does not follow the etiquette conventions of English upper-class society.

These conventions are largely meaningless so it is impossible to know when or how you might breach them. And when you do, it will be met with a cool "Oh, really" or "I see", you will only know when your daughter is not invited to her classmate's birthday party. Horrible lot. Vive La Revolution.
