Remember to take her out 10 minutes after she eats or drinks anything. When she goes outside give her a lot of praise. Like it's the greatest thing ever. If you catch her going in the house. Say no or hey in a stern loud voice but not yelling. This will startle her and make her stop. Then take her right outside and let her go and praise her when she does. If the dog has an accident and you don't catch it there is nothing you can do. Yelling wont do any good because dogs don't think of what they did 5 or 10 minutes ago. They have no idea why your yelling at them. Also never push a dogs face in it's mess. This is gross first of all and will only make the dog fear full. Also it doesn't work. It's best to have someone with the dog at all times That way you can catch any accidents. If you have to leave the dog alone you should do some crate training. The crate should be just big enough for the dog to stand up and turn around in. This recreates the natural den. A dogs instincts will tell them not to go potty where they sleep. A dog that's not used to being crated may have problems holding it for very long. So It's best to get them used to being crated before leaving them in there for a long time. Get them used to holding it a little bit at a time. And always take her out right after you let her out of the crate. Good luck

The best way to train your pup is to crate train them. You actually kill two birds with one stone and your puppy won't pee on the carpet anymore! :)

"When house training the crate is used to help shape the puppy’s pottying behavior and is achieved by regulating his schedule. "

Because dogs are den animals, they will be disinclined to soil their den givikng you the opportunity to let them know the place and time where they can go potty. Regular intervals is the best as they will get used to it and virtually never have an accident but it will require your vigilance. Remaining consistent will teach your dog that the ideal place is outside, not in "his home or den".

Accidents do happen, and when they do be sure not to punish your dog, "rather put him at your side in front of the mess and be sure he is paying attention to you. Scold the poop – tell it no. Do not scold your puppy... he absolutely will not understand the connection. But he will understand that the poop shouldn’t be there."

The biggest thing throughout the training is positive reinforcement for actions they do right. That means lots of loud happy praise when they potty outside. Inside, just say NO once and let it go.

Take a look at the articles below for a thorough explanation.

Good luck!

A couple of points on how to housetrain your dog:

1. Do not vary your dog's diet.

2. Treats should only be given as a reward for the puppy going into the crate.

3- Bring him in as soon as he does his business.

4- Praise every time you see him pee or poop. Do this forever. Reinforcing good behavior never hurt anything.

5- Dogs who go out and just dink around and then go in their crate need more exercises when they go outside. A long walk will often cure the problem. BE SURE TO PRAISE WITH GOOD OUTSIDE or whatever you want - then when you have the dog in the house and say "DO YOU WANT TO GO OUTSIDE" he will learn what you mean.

6- Older dogs are house trained exactly like young pups.

Using An Odor Neutralizer And Indoor Spray Repellent

When a the handler makes a mistake and allows the dog to pee in the house you have to get rid of the odor. Sometime you need to get rid of the owner. This is accomplished with an odor neutralizer, which is available in pet stores. (Do not use household cleaners as they contain ammonia and will attract him back to the same spot.) When used properly it will completely eliminate these odors, discerned only by the dog, by neutralizing the scent. When areas previously used by the dog have been neutralized the incentive for using the same spot will be eliminated. Then spray the area that has been soiled with an indoor pet spray repellent.

You have to catch your dog in the act - Or notice what s/he is doing while she is thinking/finding a spot to urinate. As soon as the dog is about to urinate, grab the dog with urgency and bring him outside. Praise him when he goes "potty" outside.

If you come home to urin on the carpet there is nothing you can do. Your anger will not help as the dog wont understand why you are angry.

I trained my puppy in about 1 week. Even an older dog can be trained. Just do a search on Yahoo for "how to house break dog"

best way to do it i found is this, give the dog water first thing in the morning, wait about 10 - 30min take the dog out, keep it out until it pee's, then come back in close the toilet lids and take away the water, then give it water at about noon or so, and wait about 10-30 again and take it out till it pee's again, continue until the dog learns not to pee in the house, this works if its a puppy thing

if the dog is older and is house broken already, but gets excited and pees this is a different story, thats something you may talk to a vet about

hope this helps a little bit, good luck

i had the hardest time potty training my puppy. this is wut you have to do: take ur dog out every 1 or 2 to go the bathroom and say "go potty" or "go pee" or wutever you prefer. also everytime it does pee on the carpet, spank him and say "no" so he knows hes done something wrong. its a pain to take him out every hour or so but its the only way they will learn that that is where they need to do their business. i would sometimes have to stay outside with my dog for half an hour until he pee'd. my parents wouldnt let my dog go on the carpet until he was fully potty trained so that is another thing you could do. its much easier to clean pee on anything else but carpet. hope this works for you! its took mi dog about 5 months, but its diff for others.

Well when your dog does pee on the carpet tell him/her no and show the dog why he is getting in trouble and then take hime outside and if he goes to the bathroom outside, praise him so he will want to do it outside and not inside. Trust me it worked with my dog.

Rewards...

Take your dog outside about every 3 to 4 hours (that's tough I know), then after everytime your dog pee's or pooh's outside, reward your dog with treat; and give it lots of praise.

There are also, "Puppy Pads", they really do work. If your dog pee's on the carpert (or poohs), put your dog on the "Puppy Pad" and tell it "bad dog".

Another thing you can "try" is getting a cage and caging your dog while you are gone and when you come home, first thing you do is take your dog outside?

Good luck

First you need to get a crate for your dog. Crate training is the easiest way to potty train a dog because dogs don't like to "go" where they sleep. Whenever you take him out of the crate make sure you take him out to potty. If he has an accident, take him to it (don't put his nose in it), tell him "no-no" and then take him outside and tell him to go "potty" or whatever word you choose to use for it. It will take a while but he will get it. Make sure you don't let him run free in the house for long periods of time or overnight until he is fully trained.

I've heard that dogs pee to mark their territory. However, dogs also believe that their owners are the Alpha dogs. Which means that you're the boss, and your dog knows it. If it didn't, then it would try to bite you. Therefore, if you want the dog not to pee in a particular spot anymore, then you can pee there first, and then he'll know that's your territory. HEHE
