With the experience Israel had in fighting the Hezbollah, where boots on the ground were not that effective in fighting an enemy living in caves with rockets, and the US Army being held hostage in the deserts of Iraq; is there an alternative to the coming fight with Iran?

Yes they will be used at some point and i predict its the US that uses them. The best thing nukes can be used for is a threat, once they are used all hell will break loose.

I'm convinced that unless the crazies in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran clean up their acts the day will come when the Israelis are threatened to the point that they will employ battlefield nuclear devices to make certain areas of territory off-limits to living things. They'll simply fix it so they can't be approached via certain land routes.

I don't think so. People had better wake up and realize that Iran's govt. is a throwback to the caliphs of the middle ages. They belong to the "convert or die" ideology and you cannot reason with people like that. They have emphatically stated again and again how and why they want to destroy us.
If the citizens of Iran are not willing to change their govt., it should come as no great surprise to them when we finally take steps to eliminate this threat to our national security.

I hope not. Use of Nuclear weapons by the U.S. would probably piss off the whole world. Think we were the only people to use them on other people. Nukes kill civilians and nobody wants to hear about that.
