Yes it is completely safe, but not very easy to get it nice, tender and tasteful...
always take meat up to thaw the day before and let it thaw in the refridgerator (put a plate under, it might drip), that way you avoid growth of bacteria and it is more easy to get it tender.
If you forget to start defrost the day before, use the defrost function in a microwave, and cook immediately after.
DO not defrost in hot water and do not defrost on he kitchen table.
Temperatures above 5 Celcius (= refridgerator temperature) and beneath 60 Celcius (100C= water boils) is where most harmful bacteria is able to grow, and grow quickly. Keep all kinds of meat, milk, fish and egg either above 60 or below 5.
We use the "rule of thumb" that says that food may not be in that interval for more than 3 hours.

It is safe,
but depending on your cooking method determines the flavor and quality of end result. The juices in frozen meats will leak out and the meat will be less flavorful. Using frozen meat leaves all the fat in it, and as it cooks all that fat will be left in your food. Frozen meats cooked without browning will look very unappetizing unless covered with some kind of sauce. Without browning, red meat will have a gray appearance when cooked; chicken looks blanched white.

Extended cooking times destroy vitamins and minerals the body needs for good nutrition. The`results may vary when cooking large pieces of frozen meat, with the outside being over cooked and the inside not cooked enough.

Since the frozen parts can't absorb any flavors from cooking liquids, seasonings or herbs you end up with a very bland piece of meat that lacks taste.

Frozen pizza, on the other hand, is my favorite!!

As far as safe yes, it is safe while frozen bacteria cannot multiply and cooking it will kill off any remaining bacteria. If your are cooking burger patties it doesn't make much a difference as far as taste, when you get into steak cuts it will make a difference because of the how it will cook and if you want to marinate you wont be able to. But you are safe to cook from frozen.

it will take longer to cook and you need to make sure it is cooked thoroughly. Frozen meat has a tendency to be undercooked at the bone. Make sure you use your meat thermometer to check it to the bone.

Alot of restaurant cooks use frozen meat on order and it's often undercooked or cool at the center because they don't have time to check it for proper doneness. I don't think it's really a safe practice and I don't think I would trust it.

Yes, and contrary to the other poster's belief, it doesn't affect the taste at all. The only time the taste is affected is if you cook the meat (like ground beef) and then freeze it. I cook frozen meat all the time.

It is definitely not what the health authority would consider best practice. It all depends on how the meat has been handled in the thawing process. If the meat has always been held in the proper temperature while in the process of thawing, while being held thawed and refrigerated, and while it was being transported from store to home then it is ok but not best practice to freeze again if you are not sure how it has been handled or if it was out of proper holding temperatures. To tell you the truth I would not recommend refreezing if you are feeding young children or older immune compromised elderly.

yes. it cooks faster when it's defrosted though. just be sure that the meat is cooked properly.

yes, its safe....it will just take a bit longer to cook and it might not brown as well because of all the excess water in it.

It"s wonderful if you cook at a low temperature for several hours or cook it in a slow cooker.
Just set it and forget it.
