lolol ... some are very sensitive, aren't they? Everybody knows that Americans are called yanks in Europe ... it's not derogatory or disrespectful.... just another fact ... :)

And yes, college degrees are taken into account, as are job offers .... one bit of advice though ... come over on a tourist visa first and decide where you want to live ... the United States is a darn big place, with lots of different cultures ... if you move from for example Maine to Southern Texas you'd be in for one major culture shock ... so look around, and have fun while you do it .... you'll find most yanks friendly and helpful, honest ... :)

We have many of your cousins here already, and they do quite well in yankee land, because the yanks like their British friends and neighbors.

Your education will be considered in any job interview, however your experience will play as big a part as education, depending on your field of choice.

Good luck! You're certainly the kind and type of immigrant we prefer, one that is part of the solution!

As we all know, 98% of yanks are immigrants, or the sons and grandsons of immigrants. I too, come from a family of immigrants. Our family tree reveals that our first ancestor came here, to the colonies, in the year 1674, from merry ole England! I just had to put that in.

Are you sure you REALLY want to come to the US? The streets aren't paved with gold.....just to let you know. But I suppose if you're coming from a warring nation it looks a lot better than your situation now. If you're not coming from a warring nation...stay where you're at....we're on the down swing. I'm looking at Canada in the near future...seriously.

At least you didn't call us Septics like most of the limeys do.

Tell you what, I married a Londoner. He came over on a travel visa, we met, after 3 months he went back home, then he came back 3 months later and we got married at the end of that. We've been married for 8 years and I love him more more everyday.

So, I suggest finding the love of your life, or applying for a work visa. Please come. Do some of those jobs most Americans won't do.

Get into an international company that has branches in both countries (in case you want to go back). It might be easier to get a visa in a corporation.

Depends on where you are coming from. S. Africa, Australia.
Check with American Embassy in your country.
