Wouldn't it make sense to ask his lawyer? Him? His family? The DA?

What charges?
You call the jail and ask what he was booked for. Ask then if they know what the cost of those charges is. If it's bail amount you want, the police, the jail, will tell you that for sure.
If you're talking about the cost once you get to court, you could call the clerk of the court and ask to be connected to someone there that could tell you what approximate costs could be connected with the specific charges.
More info is needed in your question.
You could also get onto the internet search engine and punch in your state, and civil codes, criminal or misdeameor, and if you know the violation numbers and charges, you could then find the proper code which also give you some answers. Or call an attorney with the information and see if he would tell you what kind of money you are looking at.

Maybe you should just leave him there depending upon what he did I had an ex that ended up in jail and I spent my whole paycheck to get him out and he ripped me off in the end. First of all how long have you 2 been together? 2nd what is he in jail for?

Well why don't you ask the court, lawyer, police that put him in jail, the jail itself... Not everybody has the same charge I think...

Depends on what he did. If its bad, you are going to pay out the nose, if its just a misdemeanor, probably just court costs.
