LoL..one time my friends boyfriend was driving my car(I trust him) and he got the car up to almost the highest speed...it was fun..seeing how much power that car had...I am going to miss that car...now that its "dead"...but I have to move on..Plus this car is going to be a hell of a lot better on gas than my cady was... Can't wait..until I get my car... :)

however..I really don't think that I should have had a V8 as my new car...because I liked the "power" way too much...plus I have a "lead foot" which didn't help matters any...lol...I am just happy that this car is going to get me to work..(when I get a job) and to my friends house..without something breaking..or finding a new problem... every two weeks..plus had trouble parking and backing out of spots...
I kind of wish that it would be worth to fix the cadi...because than my mom would keep the car..and I could take it out for a spin a time or two...but if it was to get fixed..something would break on it in another week or month...plus with the prices of gas...isn't worth it....

138 horsepower is pretty average for sedans. Horsepower isn't the only thing to consider when talking about how "fast" a car is. In terms of acceleration, engine torque and vehicle weight are probably better indicators. You won't be winning any drag races with 138 horses but the pickup should be ok.
Josh H said 138 horsepower will only get you to 90mph but that isn't true. I once took a mercury mystique with 130 horses up to 110mph and I still could have probably squeezed another 5mph out of it if I wanted to (not that i'd suggest it) - most people will never see the top speed of their car.

138 horsepower is PLENTY of power for a car of this size. Heck...My Ford Escort is only 110 horsepower and it drives just fine! The Elantra is a nice car...but plan on keeping it for a long time. The Hyundai and Kia cars still struggle with resale value, so their value drops really fast on these cars. Have you driven a Ford Focus? I dont know if you are looking at new or used cars, but either way the Focus is a great car as well. It is worth sitting in one as well before you commit to buying one! Good Luck!

It's adequate. It's an I4 and you're going to feel the loss of HP going from a V8, but you should also see a big difference with the growth of money in your pocket book.

You'll also typically feel a difference in smoothness and potentially more noise inside the vehicle. Most people don't notice it, but there is a big difference between the american V8s and the I4s. The Jap/Korean vehicles are also a lot lighter than the American counter parts.

If it's new then you'll get the warranty and road side assistance too. I don't recommend purchasing these vehicles used because even if it's only a few months used, the manufacturer doesn't offer the warranty on used vehicles. (The new warranty is not transferable, at least they weren't a few months ago)

The best thing to do of course is to go in and test drive the vehicle to make sure it give you adequate response with minimal noise.

Good Luck!

I bought a brand new 2000 elantra and considering it was my first car I loved it! It didn't matter how fast it was it got me from point a to point b with no problem. If you like the car go for it!

Well its not fast but good. The elantra would serve a pretty good time, but i advise people to but German cars if the don't care about gas prices. Elantra is a conservative car.

no 138 horsepower isnt alot. it will only get you up yo maybe about 90mph while trying to struggle to stay at that. i think you should get the azera or something with a V6. it will be more deprndable and it will have about the same mpg as the inline 4
