I keep seeing people saying that they lose 28 grams or something when they die... they don't attribute this to the air that expires from your body, or any other scientific factor... they use this as a justification that there must be a soul...

So I ask, do souls weigh 28 grams?

There have been scientific studies into this area and I'm sure that it is 21 grams, there is a film named after this that you might find interesting. Scientists worldwide have proven that you lose this weight, though obviously the scientific community would not attribute this to the soul leaving because science tries to dissprove God and the soul at any opportunity. They also know that a lot of energy leaves the body in the minutes after death from conduction their experiments and the rest of the energy, kinesthetic energy, leaves the body within the next three days. It would be interesting to see if people lose this weight when having an out of body experience (obe) when apparently the soul leaves the body temporarily. Obe's definately are real and have been proven so by many scientific groups including a massive joint experiment by Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the 1970's where they conducted controlled experiments using 3000 test patients who left their bodies using hemi sync technology. They had to travel to different locations and identify objects they saw there. Sometimes the sites they visited were over three hundred miles away, and they would identify a book laid out on a table, which page it was on and even remeber the first few paragraphs.(Check out The Monroe Institute website for more info on this subject) They may even have an answer for you. If you want to find out whether you have a soul or not then try Obe exercises. I did and it opened up a whole new world for me (literally). Obe's that I have had have given me first hand experience that our souls really do exist. I hope this has helped you and anyone else interested in this topic. ;) Not everybodies mind is on the same level of perception and the people that can understand and comprehend such issues are far less than the people who cant. People who can't understand these complex issues tend to think that it surely mustn't be real. If your on looking for answers though then you are on the right path. People who are looking for answers to these questions are on a path of spiritual development and and are a lot brighter than the people that call them idiots out of ignorance. Your on the right path mate.

“Every living soul that is in the waters.” (Leviticus 11:10) The word can refer to land animals: “Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast.” (Genesis 1:24) Hundreds of times ne′phesh means people. “All the souls who issued out of Jacob’s upper thigh came to be seventy souls.” (Exodus 1:5) An example of psy‧khe′ being used this way is 1 Peter 3:20. It tells of Noah’s ark, “in which a few people, that is, eight souls, were carried safely through the water.”
According to the bible people and animals ARE souls. We don't have one, but are one. So my soul or body weighs 105 lbs.

Do these jeans make my soul's a.ss look fat?

A heart beating probaly causes 28 grams of weight to register on it's downward movement. I am certain there is a scientific reason for teh phenomenon. Once a serious scientist (or three) without a "christian" agenda examines the question, we will know for sure.

The 28 grams is an urban legend. Whatever happens when you die, you don't suddenly become lighter. If there is a soul, it's not a physical object with mass.

According to this fellow's experiment it weighed in at 21 grams.

How much does a human soul weigh ?

Does the human soul exist, and if so, how much does it weigh ? To find out, surgeon Duncan Macdougall devised a grief experiment in Dorchester, Massachusetts, in April 1901. He placed a dying tuberculosis patient on a platform scale rigged with a cot. At the moment of death, Duncan Macdougall hypothesized, the scale should register a drop in weight when ghost shelled off its earthly body. Their first patient in place, Macdougall and his team took up their grim posts, assumed an air of breathless, intent expectancy. The first patient's soul clocked in, or rather, out, at 21 grams.
Sadly, Macdougall never managed to duplicate that data later.

I worked for years as a registered nurse on an oncology (cancer) floor. I have held the hands of countless people as they passed out of this life. I don't know how much their soul weighed when it was in their body but I can tell you that 'something' leaves the physical body at the moment it dies. Out through the head.

Think what you like about that.

People? What people? People that like to make stuff up?

The body should decompose when you die. This should result in the loss of quite a bit actually. Even if it is preserved there are a lot of reasons why you could weigh less.

It could be the waste that is eliminated from their body at the time fo death. Or it could be that the soul somehow transcends into matter I am not sure. I always figured that our soul or spiritual energy what the part of us that transcended that space time line. But that is only a theory.
