that technically means i'm 'saved'..correct? i've read many answers on here that say it doesn't matter what you personally believe, but if you've gone through baptism etc you are saved. i mean i converted to paganism quite a number of years ago but i've got that baptismal hanging over my head. as for the confirmation i can't really say it was a choice, i was about 10 and did it because my parents wanted me to. i'm not looking to convert back, i'm happy where i am, but i'm just curious after reading a similar question.

I am in the same situation. Baptized a catholic, although I did blow out the candles at the ceremony, and did the give over your life to christ as a 10 year old because I thought that was what my Sunday school teacher wanted me to do. I too am now pagan. I am not a bad person, I just don't believe in the bible. It may have some truths in it historically, but they have been dressed up into good stories to be told around the market place in ancient times.

Dear vanitykillsx2,
Many "christians" believe that baptism is their ticket to heaven and makes them saved or born again but that simply is not true. In the Bible (which I believe is the word of God Almighty), baptism means washing. If you examine the verses in the Bible that contain this word you will understand that any washing with water could not possibly wash away your sins! Baptism is simply a sign indicating that just as water washes away the filth of the flesh, those who have been born again have been washed clean of their sins by the living water--Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament the Jewish males were circumcised. This was a requirement in the Jewish community. However circumscising the foreskin of the reproductive organ did not ensure that these Jewish males would go to heaven! But the Jews thought that it would seal them into the covenant (assure them of heaven). Again if we go to the Bible we find that circumscision did not cut away the sins of that individual! But it was a sign that just as the foreskin must be cut off so our sins need to be cut off. And who can do that? Only the Lord Jesus Christ! In fact, the Bible tells us that most of Old Testament Israel died in unbelief!! May I also ask IF circumscision cut off the sins of the recipient, then what about all the females? Were they damned because they could not be circumscised? Circumscision was a sign just baptism and the Lord's table was in the churches today.
As far as confirmation is concerned, you do not receive the Holy Spirit by some ceremony. One receives the Holy Ghost when he/she is saved. When a person is unsaved they are spiritually dead in sins and trespasses. When a person is saved, they receive a new resurrected soul and eternal life and the Holy Ghost.
If you are not saved or not sure then I would suggest that you start reading the Bible and praying to God (Jesus Christ) for mercy. The Lord is very merciful. You see, "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." I hope this will help you.

No, baptism is not salvation. You must accept Jesus as your savior, repent of your sins, invite Jesus as your savior, and change your old sinful ways and turn your life over to Jesus.
This is called being born again.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

NO, because in the bible it says: That if you confess with you mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

No. Being saved is a personal matter between you and the Lord. No ritual or baptism can 'save' you, only an honest admittal to God that you are a sinner and need His forgiveness.

no it doesn't mean your saved....to be saved you have to have your sins forgiven and you need a personal relationship with Jesus. You need him in your life and you don't get that by being baptized or doing your confirmation

It doesn't matter what you do. You'll die just like everybody else. Nobody is "saved" from anything.
Just enjoy your life while you have it and don't worry about all this religious nonsense. Think for yourself.

What may have occurred to you when you were forced to when you were a child doesn't matter. What matters is what is in your heart. If you believe in Christ and accept Him as your savior you are SAVED FOREVER!
